some people here are really dumb :) - there i said it!!!

pakistan was part of the UN peace keeping mission- didnt u see the blue UN hats!!

this is a somalian civil war we're talkin' about here!

now about the gruesome scenes people were talking about: they were actually toned down-because the real thing was far worse. when i first saw the film, i was reminded of ranger eye witness accounts of somalis caught in the crossfire:

i specifically remember a ranger talking about how this man was carrying his son in his arms whilst guns were still being fired- he didnt care! he lost his son!

also the marines being lifted up in the crowds, that was also toned down-the real thing was caught on camera and it was scary!

i hate violence- this film was controversial as it was made after S-11. but the film maker (forgot his name) said he just "wanted to tell a story"

Cheerio!

mr easy took the words out of my mouth, most of you are fucking idiots.

did you not notice all the UN logos etc all over the place?

The film did give a quite gritty, realistic feel to it, and it at least showed the Americans fucking up badly, instead of say Eric Bana cutting a swathe of destruction single handedly, shooting his M16 from the hip and murdering around 234692462346 Somalians.

It was made by Jerry Bruckenheimer's company, now i think he finds it impossible to make a movie without at least a hundred people getting killed, or using less than a truckload of explosives.

It's a non-fiction based action movie. There's every right to critique it.

I was trying to watch the DVD last night (which I didn't know I had), and yeah, I am NOT an action, blood, killing, people-getting-blown-up kinda movie-watcher... So I didn't go past the first 20mins

It's funny when you pause it at the exact moment someone's been blasted and there's just blood and guts spurting out all over your tv screen. Even funnier when its at a Christmas family thing.
