How about the Toyota Starlet? I saw one on Carsales for under $5000 but the only thing is its pink. I don't think I really mind though, its quite unique as I've never seen a pink starlet before!

How many kms would you say would be reasonable for a car about 10 yrs old if I want to get a few more years out of it?

And would owning a 3 door car get extremely annoying after a while? Would it be better buying a 5 door just to be safe?

I have a 3 door civic, and quite frankly he's right. getting in and out isnt that much of a hassle but compared to a camry (my other car) the back seat is way too small.
