I do 2 unit and Extension 1 maths, i am currently in year 11.
I have been thinking about buying a book that could help me in my studies.

Are these books any good? What are the best types to get?

Some company called the 'CHURCHILL NATIONAL' is coming to my school on monday and they have all sorts of these books on sale.

- HSC 2 or 3 Unit Maths (summary + Exam Questions + Solutions ) - $24.00

Excel Preliminary Mathematics - $20.00
Excel preliminary Maths extension - $20.00

I just need a book so i can do some extra maths work, and brush up on my skills.
I like maths i want to do well it in.

Any ideas on what i should do?

thanks,

I found Excel Mathematics (HSC Version I think) really useful and summarised and easy to understand.

But of course then you need a heap of practice papers to top it off...

Edit - opps ur in prelim...well I don't know then sorry...Excel Maths HSC just breezes through the prelim topics.

You'd be hard-pressed to go wrong with Fitzpatrick or Cambridge and some hard work.

Actually Maths In Focus doesn't explain things well at all. I've used that book and I've had to spend a lot of time by myself to figure out a lot of the concepts.

If you are only doing 2 unit then fitzpatrick would be a nice challenge. 3 unit people may find fitzpatrick not as challenging as others would but its still good for some nice questions

I think Cambridge is inappropriate for people who aren't doing 4u.
It strays from the path too much (and not in THAT way...).

Cambridge 3U Year 11\Year 12 all da way!
A family friend of mine, who did her HSC last year, told me to really use this book because it's excellent. She did end up getting a fantastic UAI. So I guess this book is the way to go.

um... if u want something to study fwom, after u know all ur stuff, u should get Phoniex 3units- it has past papers questions topic by topic, and solutions that shows u step by step the way to get ur answers.
