Being overly-bias in evaluate questions.... (1 Viewer)

Hey, I'm wondering if I should/shouldn't be overly biased in the evaluate responses (or any response that needs you to judge something). I'm talking about using highly emotive language or suggestive language to support your perspective, not bias as in a one-sided argument.

eg. "The Japanese treatment of subjected Asian nations was uniquely harsh as Japan aimed to exploit their newly-acquired spoils of war." - Ok, that wasnt overly bias, but you see what i'm talking about, where you promote a debated topic as if it had a clear answer.

I know we are not supposed to be just writing a 'textbook-history', but is there a difference between judging/evaluating/promoting a perspective and writing an emotive narrative?

As long as you're using facts and other sources to validate your opinion than it's fine, and bearing in mind you don't go verbally bashing the opposing views, haha. Though it is good to refer to alternate views in your answer also.

This. An essay by nature is biased towards one particular arguement. Its all about how you use the facts to demonstrate your point of view. However, just make sure that you dont use emotive arguments.

Not generally. I was actually trying to get back to sleep, and was hoping studying would help. :p Haha. Though it failed, and I had to turn to Doctor Who as a last resort. n_n

be careful u dont contradict yourself thats what happened to me u stick to your point the whole waythrough and dont back up both sides of an arguement :) hope that kinda helps!

With your example, you should back it up with evidence, and especially another historian's perspective. If you have a historian's perspective, you will some authority over what you are saying, rather than you being the only person in the world advocating this line of argument.

Well, I'm guessing that one of the questions might possibly be on the earlier years and one on the later years, I'm kinda hoping for Japan's occupation of Asia.
