Hey.

What are the requirements to become:

- a tutor (actually tutoring a whole class for subjects)
- a peer tutor
- a UPASS leader

at UTS?

How do you apply for these positions, or to whom are they usually offered to?

Any information would be great, thanks!

1. Tutors

Tutors are generally selected from those who are in/or have completed their Honours year. You can read more about the Business Honours program here:
UTS:C09004v4 Bachelor of Business (Honours) - Business,UTS Handbook 2010

To be selected for Honours, you need a minimum WAM of 70 and go through interviews and have an approved topic of research.

2. Peer Tutor

I believe you need a credit average overall. Tutoring is organised by the Student Services Unit (UTS: Student services - Student services, University of Technology, Sydney). I can't find a specific page for it- best bet would be to contact student.services@uts.edu.au or p: +61 2 9514 1177

3. U:pASS

Requirements are here: UTS: Leaders - U:pASS, University of Technology, Sydney

I did U:pASS for one semester (Accounting for Business). I have a distinction average overall and have held industry positions in Accounting. I'm not saying that you need what I've achieved, but you do need to be a top student to be selected in these programs.

Most of the recruitment for all three of the above is hand-selected; you will normally get an email from coordinators about expressions of interest.
