It's been a while since I've done this sort of thing, but I don't believe is .

should be the angle between the east pointing line from Bourke and the line joining the two towns.

Then, should be the complement of that, i.e. .

Ok so I’m not a dumb fuck whose been wasting 4 days on this section, the answer in the book says 37 but I kept on getting 53

It is 53 degrees, the textbook has done 90+
=127 thus 37 being the answer which is incorrect.

Textbook is wrong. I think they thought by using alternate angles straight away, theta is 37. Definitely 53 degrees.
