BCom/BEc and actuarial studies (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, i was looking at the actuarial studies section on the UNSW website and it doesnt mention the BCom/BEc degree as a double degree which can be done to become an actuary. Just wondering if this is just an error or the BCom/BEc degree does not have actuarial studies.

And another thing, would the UAI cut-off for BCom/BEc be the same as the BCom degree?

yea im interested in this as well...but yeh i think the uai cut-off would be a bit higher (mayb 96point sumthing).

In response to your first question, I'm not an actuary, but I think you can do Actuary as part of BCom/BEc program, provided your BCom major is actuary and you complete the Courses required, as mentioned in the website:

Its best to check with the Faculty Student Centre, call them on (+612) 9385 3187
or send them an email at ceinfo@unsw.edu.au and they will confirm. I think I'm right on this one but its best to take their word for it.

The second question depends on the UAC course code. If the UAC course code for BCom/BEc is the same, then they should have same cut-off. Otherwise, there is a possibility that they may vary (since allocations are made on supply/demand of courses by UAC course code).

I'm sure you can go to the FCE student centre and apply to transfer internally

I haven't read the new handbook to see whether this is possible though

Only if the two degrees are of totally different disciplines, in this case commerce = economics.

If it was commerce/science than yes you are exempted.
The idea of gen eds is for you to get a general knowledge in all fields and not to be stricken to one subject area.
