The UAI cut-off this year for the B Pol was 65, down from 75. Ironically enough, the number of first year students in the course this year is 65.

Yea my UAI was fairly high considering the cut off, however it was what I wanted to do.... there is no point placing effort in a course for the status etc

I think maybe thats because people brang either family or friends with them so i guess it made it look as if lots of people were doing the course.

oh okay... i must've missed that part, i came late to the aas. Is it a good or bad thing if there are more people? do u reckon that are there any mature students?

what time is the orientation thing and once we get there where do we go? will it be just b of policing?

Ah, they must have increased the offers for the course. Last year they released a file about course numbers being offered in 2005 and they only had 65 for the B Pol.

Yeah, we started with over 100, give it a year and you'll be down to less than half. Shocking, but proven time and time again :p

Agreed. You could have always chosen an engineering or advanced science course to 'fit' your UAI, but after first year, you would be doing what most students do, transfer into policing from a range of universities.

Just wondering why there's such a high drop-out rate?

Could be cause theres not much money in it, and your not guarenteed to get into policing anyone once graduated. You still have to pass the entry requirements of police force
