When applying for Swinburne, or If anyone did, did you need to post off a form. I just sent in for the "request for Interview" via the net. For the RMIT one, I needed to post some info, just not sure about Swin?

diploma is associate..

at least that is what i thought..

fee help or dfee not sure which one (unless they are the same) is for associate

and hecs-help is for bachelor..although that cant be used towards your
flight training component but apparently from 2009..you can defer flight
training payment through something..a similar hecs-help type scheme

:O if you can defer the payment doesnt that mean that the UAIis going to be well over 80?

no idea what yor talking about
Not many people choose aviation because of the 100K fee...right :S? Then if this HUGE fee becomes deferable wouldn't more people want to choose aviation then the UAI increases from 80 to as high as demand goes. I hope that clears the mist a bit :uhhuh:

you lot are better off doing Engineering Studies at high school, rather than spend so much time going to TAFE, although i am not saying, its a waste.

I am doing Engineering Studies, and i certainly think it is worth it. They have the focus module, Aeronautical Engineering and that is good enough to give you a good aircraft mechanics background.

Why don't you just go to your local airport and pick out a flying school? Can someone explain to me why everyone here wants to train through a uni instead of flying schools what advantages do you see in it, especially comparing cost?

Cheers

umm lol i got flamed for saying the same thing..
but anyway

Uni Advantages:
i) you come out with a degree for aviation which is perhaps the most useless degree you could come out with
ii)it shows airlines that you are committed
iii) you can get defer payment although accredited flying schools can too

Flying School advantes:
i) you come out with a CPL in 1 year
ii) you can go straight into instructing after rating
iii) probably cheaper
iv) you can join airlines quicker because of faster accumulation of hours which lets you have a higher seniority rather than someone joining 3 years after you

and im gonig to say tafe > engineering studies
focus module for aero eng. is fine but
tafe focuses on the theory side of a PPL and CPL which i think is better..thats just my opinion

Uni advantages points:
i) It is a useless degree, airlines want to see real degrees from uni like engineering, economics, law.... so on they are the ones that really make a difference to show you can finish something.
ii) Answered in i
iii) Is this deferred payment new? May understanding is that you still have to pay the flight costs?

I really dont know why you got flamed for saying don't go to uni we have just shown why not to go? :headbang:

I think the local flight school near me is trying to implement a system where you can "defer" costs, so yes, I think this is a thing we'll see in the future.

Do you know if that applies to UNSW like if they let their students defer the flight costs as well?
