Friend --
Labor is at it again. Foreign Minister Bob Carr confirmed today that Australia’s foreign aid target will be delayed by another year to plug the Budget black hole caused by Labor’s expensive and inhumane offshore detention network.
Sign our petition: cutting foreign aid to pay for locking up refugees is not on
While the Government helps itself to precious foreign aid funds, Tony Abbott’s Liberals won’t commit to raising our foreign aid target at all.
Australia spends just 0.35% of our Gross National Income on foreign aid, placing our contribution in bottom third of OECD countries. Even worse, Labor is funnelling over $375 million of aid money into funding their budget blowout on offshore detention immigration.
Ripping money away from legitimate aid projects in this way makes Australia the third biggest recipient of its own foreign aid, after Indonesia and PNG!
Labor has shown yet again that it cannot be trusted in the race to bottom with Tony Abbott.
Funding the Government’s budget hole on the back of the world’s poorest is just plain wrong.
Let the government know that you want a real commitment on foreign aid
