I love Kevin Rudd.

Wayne Swan is a great economic manager.

There has never been a better foreign policy minister than Stephen Smith.

You cut those carbons Penny Wong!

I support Communism and Socialism.

I believe in a nanny state!

The right are so oppressive! So we mustn't let them speak or even breath!!!!

Israel are bad. Palestine are good.

Climate change is real and we need to act now.
(I will immediately fly around the world three times to sign a declaration of my stance.)

Private schools should not receive any state or federal government funding.

Make the rich pay! They don't deserve their wealth and it's not like they work for it.

I am left-wing... I am going to indoctrinate children.

Palin is stupid.

McCain is old. So is John Howard.

George Bush is really stupid and he went to war by lying to us...
it doesn't matter if I supported it at the time and all evidence suggested there were WMDs in Iraq!

I am all for renewable resources. The oil companies are conspiring against us.
Doesn't matter that solar, hydro etc. power could not sustain base power in NSW let alone the rest of Australia.

People are too stupid to look after themselves - enter the government.

Wealth is greed. Capitalism is evil. 'Spread the wealth'.

(DISCLAIMER: bigboyjames did not PM me to say this left-wing stuff.)

I wish I had of seen the look on alexdores' face when Barack Obama was elected. "What? A fucking nigger! He's going to implement Communism and teach evolution! The Muslims are coming. The Muslims are coming!"

Except I would never use that word, speak so rudely and think so narrow-mindedly.

You're dumb. You think that anyone who doesn't support Obama's policies is racist. Which show's that it is you, dear Trefoil, who is narrow-minded. I'm still wondering how you ever became a moderator.

Unlike you I try not to group or generalise when it comes to ethnic groups. Be they Aboriginal, Muslim, Christian etc.

And as for evolution. I am not against this theory - though it is a theory - but people shouldn't be taught that it contradicts Christianity, because it doesn't. The two are not mutually exclusive. If you must know. I would support any move by Obama to teach evolution - hopefully he would take a balanced approach to the issue. Though it must be said, people who don't want the theory taught have the right to feel this way. And there are quite a few of them out there.

It's a reasonable and near-universally accepted scientific theory? Why the fuck should it NOT be taught in science classes?

I hate Thomas Hardy, he's a shithouse author whose books are amongst the dullest ever written, but I'm not going to have a cry because he's taught in English classes.

Do you also think that people have the right to be taught alternate theories to the theory of gravity in schools? Like the theory of God's divine hand pushing you where you want to go?

Well that's a tough question... NOT. Please don't try to bait me so obviously - it's patronising.

If you'd read what I said; science and Christianity are not mutually exclusive.

I understand. Let me know when you've figured out why you believe the theory of evolution is somehow less reputable than the theory of gravity.

I'm Slidey, James. I was a mod of the HSC and VCE maths forums in 2006 and 2007. I got pLuvia to become a co-mod because I was often busy with uni, then eventually resigned.

Education Legislation Amendment Bill 2008 and the Schools Assistance Bill 2008 just passed the Senate so independent schools will receive funding next year.

Provisions relating to a national curriculum were removed, and the secrecy of private school donors assured.
Update: The government is threatening to reject the bill when it goes back to the house. If they do the lack of government funding for independent schools next year will be on their own heads.

The funding bills are there waiting for the government to rubber stamp them. Perhaps Gillard could stop playing politics?

Kevin Whitlam Rudd? From the Australian:
Kevin Rudd eyes infrastructure bank for states

KEVIN Rudd is weighing plans to establish a bank to co-ordinate major loans to fund state government infrastructure projects.

"The Prime Minister was today dubbed "Kev-lani" in Parliament over the infrastructure banks claims, a reference to the Whitlam loans affairs involving Tirath Khemlani, the Pakistani broker who was engaged by a Rex Connors to secure a $4 billion loan in 1974. The furore that followed played a pivotal role in the downfall of the Whitlam government.

There are also claims tonight he is also planning an investment roadshow to the Middle East next year amid reports he is considering establishing a secret "Labor bank". A spokesman for the Prime Minister says he had no travel plans locked in but would not rule out supporting any overseas roadshows.

In Question time, the opposition grilled Mr Rudd today over alleged secret plans to establish a "Labor bank" to borrow millions of dollars to fund the states' infrastructure needs.

And the Prime Minister has refused to deny the suggestions, instead confirming he is examining all appropriate measures to fund infrastructure in Australia."

Wow. Isn't this a popular thread.
Huge executive bonuses broke economy

"WITH the economy close to actually starting to shrink, the former governor of the Reserve Bank has pinned the blame for the financial turmoil on executives who took excessive risks to secure multi-million dollar bonuses.

National accounts figures released yesterday painted the weakest picture of growth for eight years. The economy grew by just 0.1 per cent in the three months to the end of September, for an annual rate of 1.9 per cent. Excluding the farm sector, the economy shrank by 0.3 per cent."

http://business.smh.com.au/business/huge-executive-bonuses-broke-economy-20081203-6qqb.html

Does this seems very anti-wealthy to anyone else? It's almost as if they're being set-up to become history's next scapegoats.

Yes it may be tasteless of big exec's to take million dollar bonuses when they're laying of thousands of workers... but I hardly think it 'broke the economy'... Give me a break!

Schools Assistance Bill 2008 finally passed.

Coalition blinked first. Original bill passed with national curriculum provisions.
