I think they wouldn't be successful ... With the level of security at the Australian border.
What about the ones here already though... Terrorists don't just use bombs either. Look at the nutcases who beheaded the British soldier etc...

There were attempts by "home grown" terrorists but they failed miserably. I can post very specific methods they can use to inflict terror and fear in Australia, but I don't want ASIO knocking on my door. Local gang violence is a bigger threat to the lives of everyday Australian than any terror group in country. The only succesful attacks against Australia, as I said previously have occurred overseas. They can't target us because 1. it's hard to get here 2. GL passing operational messages without it getting intercepted and 3. Indonesia is essentially our buffer zone to prevent any attacks on Australian soil. Those people who beheaded the British soldiers weren't really link to any terror group, they're just nut cases being nut cases. We have bigger issues on gangs and serial killers than we do on domestic terrorism.

They can't operate in Australia because they know they won't be able to conduct any large or small scale attacks because amateur bomb makers can't get access to good explosive materials anyway and there are VERY VERY easy ways to identify whose a possible terror risk just by looking at banking and social patterns eg large amounts of deposits and withdrawls into accounts, little to no pattern of spending (bills, rent, etc), under 25 single males, muslim, possibly studying chemical engineering etc etc.

Exactly. If you and everyday normal people can fathom those, then I'm sure terrorists hell bent on destruction could also.

I agree gangs in Sydney are worse for now, although we shouldn't become complacent. Just look at the Sydney muslim riots last year and their hate speech.

Anyone can come up with a plan and method but its the execution that counts. Look at the boston bomber, those dumbass' cant even get a kill count past 10. That's just fucking sad, how fucking shitty of a bomb maker do you have to be to only kill 5 people. Amateur bomb maker fails again.

Well if I wanted to commit a terror attack you don't use bombs. Guns are easier. Have 10 pairs working together in 10 different major areas of sydney, start popping people off randomly just like the DC sniper. That's the quickest way you can shut down a city. Now thankfully jihadists find it easier to shoot at western soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq than it is trying to go to the US or Australia to do the same shit.

That muslim riot was fucking stupid anyway, people getting pissed off over some egyptian copt making a shitty youtube video when in reality it was a shitty justification/false flag op to attack the US consulate in Libya. Australia was the only western country that had muslim protest, nobody else gave a shit. I think our major problem is marginalizing our muslim community that they turn to the fundamentalists. I would hardly call those people being retards an actual terror threat or a threat to our national security. It's not the ones out in the open you have to be worried about, it's the one that keeps their mouths shut and starts doing shit.

I don't really get what the big deal is? If he wants to go kill himself for his country then so be it. What does it have to do with the government? And why does it affect the lives of everyday Australians lol?

Ok so I was legitimately asking a question...what exactly is this "case" you uphold? It seems rather unintelligent considering I'm not violently overthrowing you or anything like that.

Edit: mind you, as a proper muslim, along with the rest of my family and the majority (not all) of my muslim friends, I am strongly against the violence in syria. And feel even more strongly about Hezbollah throwing themselves in. And would hate to see military involvement. Syria is messed up. You can't fight fire with fire. And even if it all stops, the government is stupid. Even if the rebels overthrow the government, the other parties can't agree on anything and will end up causing even more problems. I don't agree that this Aussie bloke having any minor or major involvement in Syria is correct, but if some guy that was Australian and was of any religious or non-religious background went to some country and committed mass murders, i don't understand what the government or the people of Australia have to do with it? It's his problem. And no point revoking his visa or anything now, he's a suicide bomber, lol.

If some Jewish bloke went to Palestine and blew himself up and killed people, of course, I'd be upset at the mind of mankind. And also think he's an idiot. I also think this guy that went to Syria to blow himself up is a sad reality of mankind, and a complete idiot, because he's not making anything better. Still don't get what the government has to do with even a random Jewish guy from Rose Bay risking his life for patriotic bs. And also don't get how you think I'm arguing anything, or what your case is. Just curious as to how it affects other people if some guy wants to risk his life lol.

And if anyone went to my home country in my home city and murdered or injured people i love and care about, i'd be pretty pissed off, and probably hate him, but the government can't do jack about that, it simply is none of their business what this guy wants to do with his life, right?

It is the 'minority' of your Muslim friends that worry the rest of us non muslims.
