Are the atar calculator really all that accurate? I've put my course mark into various calculators - http://www.atarcalculator.com.au. dux, talent100, http://atarcalc.com (not to sure about that one), etc.
and I'm getting a range between 60 - 63.
Here are my ranks, course marks and subjects as follows:
Industrial Technoloy: 2/27 - Course mark of 86%
Information Technology - 1/26 - Course mark of 80%
Information Process Technology - 1/24 - Course mark of 85%
English Standard - 27/104 - Course mark of 70%
General Maths - 58/102 - Course mark of approximately 55% - 60 % (I know this brings me down)
Studies of Religion 1 unit- 27/80 - Course mark of 70%

I understand the poor scalings of these subjects - but surely my atar cannot be that low?
So, are the atar calculators accurate? And could you be able to provide an estimate on your own
P.S My school rank is the 180's.
Thanks in advance. (Y)

You have to put your aligned marks into the calculators, not the raw mark

ATAR calculators are pretty much useless until you get your HSC results back.

I'm thinking you're looking at an ATAR in the low to mid 80s.

Atar calculators do not consider the school ranking or your current ranking in the calculation ...

"2013" ATAR calculators use data from the 2012, and "2012" ATAR calculators use data from 2011. They are accurate for that year's cohort, but by then, they would have already known their ATAR.

You should enter your aligned marks.

Apologies for being ignorant in this topic, but aligned marks are moderated by markers, yes?

For your assessment mark, your raw school mark undergoes moderation, then that mark gets aligned to the standards, i.e. the performance between a Band 5 and Band 6 gets 90, between Band 4 and Band 5 gets 80 etc.

Then those two aligned marks are averaged to form your final HSC mark.
