Just wondering, are any of you here doing As You Like It? How does it even remotely relate to the concept of belonging?

It wouldn't be wise to talk about Orlando and AdamB.Lu3berry said:we're also doing As You Like It
hate it so much
wth?? everyone falls in love after 3 seconds they see each other?
anyways ditto what prev. person said, and belonging is also related to the master nd servant relationship between Orlando and Adam, where Adam is extremely loyal and belongs to Orlando.
nature vs. court is also important- ppl can belong to the forest because it's not corrupted and full of jealousy--setting equates to the value of people that inhabit them etc.
Yeah that movie was hilariousUndomiel said:Yeah i agree As You Like It isn't very good for belonging, i think they just picked the hardest belonging text they could find and said 'lets put that on the list because its Shakespeare'.
All the above have pretty much summed up what belonging concepts i got out of it. I think the forest changes people, there must be drugs in its air or something because everyone just falls in love, in exception to Rosalind and Orlando who fall in love before the forest.
Anyone seen the BBC movie of it? Talk about a laugh! It was painful to watch.
Have fun studying it everyone

But the ending came pretty close... i dunno what was with that lol
Yeah they could've picked better lookers for that movie, would've made it a bit less painful
bcoz english teachers are post modern wankers.-tal- said:Most crapulent piece of Shakespeare I've ever seen. There's nothing of substance to pull from it goddamnit! Even my related texts are better!!
The concepts of belonging in it are so lacking - this play was never meant to be analysed, it was never meant to mean anything. So why are trying to draw meaning from it anyway?
