Apple's television ads for its new Macs boast that for years, Intel's chips have been "trapped inside PCs--dull little boxes, dutifully performing dull little tasks."

Now, the voiceover proclaims, the Intel processor will finally be set free.

Of course, that's not exactly the way Intel would put it.

"Never would we characterize our customers that way", Intel Vice President Deborah Conrad said in an interview.

.. Looks like someone in Apple's marketing PR department needs to be butt-raped.

Considering that Apple advertised Pentium II PCs as snails a while back, it's a step up.

Haha, I like that. It's true, Intel chips will do alot better in Macs than they will in PCs (see macbookpro)

Seems to me the folks over at apple have some serious ground to catch up on gaming before they go loling about how useless PCs are. Of course it all may be possible in the near future, but that doesn't negate the fact that for a very long time PC has been the only option for gaming on PC (Unless you get your rocks off on waiting years for games to come out for your platform).

lol! I spent ages trying to figure out how to refer to the rest of the "market" there without using the word shitboxes. I must have forgotten about it after a bit and just done that instead, whoops!

What I mean to say is PC has been, and continues to be, the only option for gaming on desktop systems :)

So they are basically implying that 98% of people are stupid for buying a PC.

Interesting marketing strategy.

Like I said guys, the tweebs within their marketing team aren't the brightest around. There seems to be some very bitter people inside Apple.

Indeed- Macs are better suited to other tasks. This however, is said to be able to run Windows properly (with minimal hardware conflicts), so you could run Windows & do everything normally, but a lot faster.

Hopefully, anyway.

Games and Windows are a lot different though, reports from developers and people working with getting games happening on this platform have ranged from glowing to mediocre at best, due to performance issues and so on. Still, I'm willing to wait and see how it shapes up, though in advance I'll admit that I'm less than convinced that this is going to work as well as they'd have us believe.

And minai's the new king of grammar.

Intel clearly have it in the CPU sector. Not only are their chips fast and reliable, they now span across platforms, to cater for virtually every computer user. AMD make great products. But it terms of owning the CPU market, Intel wins.

As if we aren't laughing it up enough already, what the hell is that apostrophe doing in there? :)

Edit: lol, as I posted this I was thinking back to an interesting discussion I once had about how if there's one place I believe in karma, it's when it comes to correcting grammar and spelling. This is such a case, in my haste to post I somehow read that as "Minai's is", ugh! :) I should attempt to save face by nitpicking about the typo and the lack of a capital on Minai's name, but I think I'll just take the gloves off for the night and let this serve as yet another example of why you need to check what you're talking about multiple times before posting when it comes to this sort of business (Or at least, an example of why I should do this) :)

It's a contraction of "Minai is".

edit: Hah. At least you took it gracefully. If this was in NS rebuttal would probably be in the form of horse porn. And for that, I'm glad. :)
