The creative writing can vary quite a lot. Generally aim for 1000, but it can certainly even be as short as 750 if it's very good and keeps the marker entertained - that said, similar quality at 1000 words will get you a much higher mark. The essay should generally be around the 1000 word mark as well, if you can write more then that is good also. I generally wrote my essays between 950 and 1200 words (belonging or options).

generally most people aim at 1000 for each task but it will vary from person to person.

for my creative i did 800 words

my belonging essay about 1100 words

and modules 900-1000 words

It also depends on how quickly you can write and how much content you'd like to include to answer the set question.

My creative was 1000 words, my belonging essay 1450 words and my modules were between 1200-1300.

my creative and belonging essay were both 1000-1100 words, but it's going to depend on how fast you can write and whether you intend to memorise pieces. you might also want to consider making these two sections shorter if you like spending more time planning out your comprehension responses.

Creative: 850, Essay: 950

(that was what worked for me. of course you'll see other strategies such as those suggested by Jim above, who also got fantastic results! So by no means is there one set rule)

Using Microsoft Word to plan the essay

I memorise both of these pieces - maybe not the best way to approach it but it works for me.

Hardcore memorise if you suck at english. If not memorise but then improvise.

As long you can mould the essay to answer the question during the exams - then I think it should be just fine.
