Does anyone know how to make the ANU mail website read free hotmail accounts? Also, what's with the whole u45XXXXX@anu.edu.au about? Seriously, it is incredibly stupid. I've had a couple of people who I've emailed ask for my name. Why wouldn't they just have firstname.lastname@anu.edu.au? Are there any other unis that do it the ANU way?

the only way that's possible is for you to set up mail forwarding on your hotmail account to forward mail to your anu email

Whats the limit on anu email anyways? and you wouldn't really be told off if you have anything questionable sent to your anu email right?

i don't think there is a set limit, but if it is unreasonably huge you might get an email from doi.

- only staff/postgrads get firstname.lastname@.. emails
- usyd's is even more screwed up, if your name is john smith and your uniid is 12345678, your email is something like jsmi678@usyd.edu.au...

if your uni email is considerably large you'll probably get told off (i.e. if 97% of students can keep their size below 300mb and yours is 5gb, expect a warning...). also why wouldn't you use gmail if you wanted a large email? it's at 6.5gb now...

also don't use your anu email to sign up for porn?

thats exactly what i do.

I also have it setup so outlook checks anu mail and downloads it all. (This means i don't have to be connected to SDA to check Gmail, it doesnt clog the anu email storage server, and it has a pretty good user interface). If anyone needs the codes i.e. pop3 addy etc, just leave a message here.

khing is right - provided it has mail forwarding. I dont think hotmail has forwarding on normal accounts though.

Is there anyway ANU-mail can recieve email from gmail using pop or imap? I don't want any mail forwarding done.

Oh and slightly off-topic, but is anyone using/has tried Outlook 2007? Are there any big differences between the 2003 and 2007 version?

PS. I just realised khing, a couple minutes ago, I bought that micro1 book from you. I should have just stuck to one username.

I don't think that can happen unless you do it through outlook etc. Even then to download gmail, you would need to be connected to SDA.
