Number 3 is a trick question....
I realise this now.
I said A but they were asking for his TOTAL pay for the 4 weeks guys...
hence the answer is D because you find out the holiday loading and add it to his weekly pay.

For (i): There are four light globes. They each cost $6 to buy and $d per hour to run. So the cost to run one of them is 6 + d x 5 x 365 = 6 + 1825d. Therefore the cost of running four of them is 4(6 + 1825d) = 24 + 7300d.

For (ii): The total cost of running all four globes for a year is $250. Therefore:
24 + 7300d = 250
7300d = 226
d = 0.031

This question would be much better if it just focussed on one light bulb rather than four.

Q5 MC - Cannot be D, as diagram I is the stock standard net for a triangular pyramid.

Q6 MC - Already prooven wrong.

Q9 MC - I think this is a very bad question. None of them are necessarily right, as the population of a city means little to how many schools it has - it is the number of children that determines that, so birth rate to schools would be better.

What I did was convert it all to MM, like so:

400 * 100 * 10 (Or 1000, whatever tickles your fancy - just showing you the step).

So 400,000 mm * 20. That equals 8,000,000. Divide it back into the original volume shown, in m. That comes to 8,000. 1m^3 is equal to 1L, so it is 8,000L. Always try and deal in the same unit of measurement, even if it requires bigger numbers than before. You can always put it back in, and you will get the right answer.

Q27 - Correct. It is 15 by 9. I got that from using the graph then my own astounding mathematical knowledge to minus 6 from 15 :rofl:.

Well the amount that it costs is $22, which is 110% of the original price. Timse that by 100, then divide by 110, and you get the original price, which is 20. Then just do 22-20. . You must have done something like 22 * 10 / 100, which would equal 2.2. Hope that helped.

Agreed. Definitely not a good question. The two words which a lot of people may have glossed over in the question are most likely. When I first saw the question I thought it was B as well, but only because I thought they were talking about petrol sales. As the price goes up, the sales will increase as well. The number of litres would probably stay the same or decrease a little so B is probably not a case of positive correlation. In the case of A, just because a population increases doesn't mean the number of schools would increase, but you would expect that it would. So A is more likely to give a positive correlation than B.

You mean 1 m³ = 1 kL?

I did 400 x 0.02 = 8, but this is 8 m³, so 8 kL, which is 8000 L.

Yes. Sorry about that. I was answering the paper and typing in the answers at the same time. I just typed the last answer which was the 9 m width. Fixed that up now. Thanks.

Easiest way to get GST is divide the sale price by 1.1
so 22/1.1 = 20
then take that value away from the sale price
22-20 = 2
