Just started the 2008 question and it hit me, what ARE the dramatic techniques used in Hamet??? Does it refer to metatheatre, ie a play within a play? Anything else?

Yeah I was stuck with that one, too. So I thought back to my drama essays and I thought about setting - comparing the Bell Shakespeare production to Kenneth Branagh's movie. And the language? I think you just put everything else under the 'language' umbrella haha.

A play can be broken up into two forms:

The Dramatic Text: Refers to what is written. The language, indicated stage directions, the structure, context, character, plot, narrative,

The Theatrical Text: Refers to the staging of the piece. Includes lighting, sound, set, staging, delivery, positioning, audience, performed context.

Thus, you'd talk about all the elements listed under dramatic.
