Argh, after all this time, I've been doing business reports MY way, but then I go and look at the marking guidelines from the BOS, and I'm confused.
Ok, take the 2002 business report question...
Inside the stimulus box, it gives the normal business background information, and a list of points. It then says, "The strategic planning manager has been asked to make recommendations to address these concerns."
Then, OUTSIDE the stimulus box, it says, "As the strategic planning manager, write a report to the Board of Directors that examines the effectiveness of the current organisational structure and analyses the ethical and legal responsibilities of the business in relation to financial management and marketing."
Ok, so NORMALLY I would go:
- executive summary, where I say, "in the following report, these points will be addressed <insert points from stimulus>. Also, the effectiveness of the current organisational structure will be examines, and the ethical and legal responsibilities of the business in relation to financial management and marketing will be analysed."
- I'll put "situational analysis" and then list the stimulus points, and recommendations
- effectiveness of current organisational structure
- ethical and legal responsibilities of the business in relation to financial management
- ethical and legal responsibilities of the business in relation to marketing
- conclusion
HOWEVER, now I'm confused. The following is the points I am confused on:
- should we actually write "executive summary"? someone said they got marked down for actually writing the heading
- should I do the question outside the stimulus box first, and then the stimulus material stuff after that??
Argh, sorry, it's a textbook of a question.
