I love his recent works, even Charlie but ESPECIALLY Sweeney Todd (favourite movie of all time) and Big Fish. Edward Scissorhands and Nightmare Before Christmas are classic.
For the one time in my life i am going to say this. Burton might actually pull this one off. I mean he is all about his visual and style, it seems to me his potrayl of a "dark" Alice in Wonderland is a) inevitable and b) Going to turn out great. I heard a rumour, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter or something.. Got to check it out.
I love Alice in Wonderland and Burton's work....but can't say I'm looking forward to a dark Alice in Wonderland. That story should remain untouched....I can just see it turning into some goth cult movie, ffs.
Alice and Wonderland can easily be interpreted in a dark way - I'm looking forward to this intensely, I think Burton and Lewis Carroll could complement each other well.
Imagine if it was Baz Luhrmann...now that would just be too much
Walt hated his cartoon version because it came across as too dark, but yeah, it IS a dark tale, full of all the madness involved with relativism/ falling down the rabbit hole of meaninglessness
I have my doubts about the re-make. I dont think it transfers well with actors. Will need heavy special effects
