Actually, it can differ quite a fair bit. If you look at English Extension 2 2007, the top and 99th percentiles were BOTH 50/50. However, the scaled marks are 50.0 for the top and 49.2 for the 99th percentile...that's a 0.8 mark difference in scaled marks for the same aligned mark.

In fact, in 2006 it was an even more significant difference. The top and 99th percentiles were BOTH 50/50 as well. However, the scaled marks are 50.0 for the top and 48.4 for the 99th percentile....that's a 1.6 mark difference in scaled marks for the same aligned mark.
LOL ok, I stand corrected. But the gap here would be pretty big because it's at the top end. There's a lot of people getting that 50/50 mark...25? I think it gets a bit inflated here.

I've dled all the A Tables already for 06/07. Does anyone know where 05 and under are?

But then, wouldn't the interval of raw marks corresponding to the same aligned mark increase as we go lower (i.e. there would be more variation in raw marks for the one aligned mark going downwards)? I'd imagine at the top end, the range of raw marks to get 49 or 50 would be a lot narrower than say 44 or 45. Unfortunately, the adjacent percentiles given in the table at the lower end differ by a lot, so it's impossible to find any ties in aligned marks at the lower end shown on the table.

I meant that since (i think) the scaling of marks increases exponentially compared to your raw mark (the closer you are to the top, the easier it is to gain scaled marks) then the range at the top X people is pretty big.
I dno, I may be deluded =.=

X-hour necro to ask a Q:

Does anyone know conclusively whether JUAI and einstein scale linearly or to some wierd function?

ALso what does everything think the cutoff for 100 will be this year haha. it went up by 3 or so last year

Anyway I thought about the 495.4 thing, and it might be Alex Borowsky who got four state rankings last year (100% in all of them.)

Advanced: 100/100 1st in state
Extension: 50/50 2nd
Extension II: 50/50 1st
Ancient History: 100/100 3rd

She also did accelerated 4U maths so I'm guessing she got around 97-99 for those (as she said that she did "really well").

Crazy huh.

ANd my friends are really nervous too because they want the .90 or .95 for the 10k scholarships. And they don't know the cutoffs! lmao

Calls come out today, I guess. You'd be able to tell us wouldn't you, dp? Some Ruse people would definitely top some subjects.
