Totally agree. When Americans kill innocents, it's 'collateral damage' but when so-called 'terrorists' attempt to defend themselves they are labelled terrorists and thrown in a box for 5 years while 'pending' trial.

The Taliban responded through their embassy in Pakistan, asserting that there was no evidence in their possession linking bin Laden to the September 11 attacks. They also stressed that bin Laden was a guest in their country. Pashtun and Taliban codes of behavior require that guests be granted hospitality and asylum.[23][24]


On September 22, 2001, the United Arab Emirates, and on the following day, Saudi Arabia withdrew their recognition of the Taliban as the legal government of Afghanistan, leaving neighboring Pakistan as the only remaining country with diplomatic ties.


On October 7, 2001, before the U.S. and British attack began, the Taliban offered to try bin Laden in Afghanistan in an Islamic court[25]. This offer was rejected by the U.S., and the bombing of Kabul commenced the same day.

Bush doesn't want to stop bombing the country and showing his militry might.


The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) did not authorize the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom). There is some debate as to whether UNSC authorization was required, centered around the question of whether the invasion was an act of collective self-defense provided for under Article 51 of the UN Charter, or an act of aggression.[27]


Of course, US gets away scot-free with a blatant breach of international law.



Also, the U.S. Administration did not officially declare war, and labelled Taliban troops and supporters terrorists rather than soldiers, denying them the protections of the Geneva Convention and due process of law. This position has been successfully challenged in the U.S. Supreme Court[28] and questioned even by military lawyers responsible for prosecuting affected prisoners.[29]


Good that it has been 'questioned' but is anyone going to face trial for this? No.



On December 20, 2001, the UNSC did authorize the creation of an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) with authority to take all measures necessary to fulfill its mandate of assisting the Afghan Interim Authority in maintaining security.[30] Command of the ISAF passed to NATO on August 11, 2003.[31]

It continues, the list grows longer. But I'm sure evidence doesn't stand for much aginst a few isolated photos. Some of the photos are actually incriminating, because the woman and the child begging for money probably had a father before the US illegally detained him.

The war in afghanistan (only since 2001) has killed more than tens of thousands of civilians. According to wikipedia TOTAL CIVILIAN DEATHS was over 7100 in 2007 alone. (Further statistics from more reliable sources are welcome)

Does this seem like a fair counter-attack or is the USA going overboard?

im not sayin this wasnt an act of taliban but not every suicide bombing is done by taliban...its sometimes done by normal afghani civilians sick to death of the invaders of their country killing and raping their family and friends

The BBC's Alastair Leithead is the first journalist to reach the scene of a US air raid which Afghan authorities say killed about 50 civilians in the east of the country on 6 July. He reports on what he found:

On a hillside high in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan there are three charred clearings where the American bombs struck.
Scattered around are chunks of twisted metal, blood stains and small fragments of sequinned and brightly decorated clothes - the material Afghan brides wear on their wedding day.
After hours of driving to the village deep in the bandit country of Nangarhar's mountains we heard time and again the terrible account of that awful day.
What began as celebration ended with maybe 52 people dead, most of them women and children, and others badly injured. (there were only three men among the dead)
The US forces said they targeted insurgents in a strike. But from what I saw with my own eyes and heard from the many mourners, no militants were among the dead.

Well, firstly civilian deaths in 2007 were about 2000 deaths not 7000

And to blame all civilian deaths on the invasion is fallacious. As my post above showed, Afghan Taliban and other groups kill innocent civilians that have absolutely nothing to do with foreign forces in the region but they always end up being blamed on the US.

And in regard to Iraqi civilian casualties-
protip: SECTARIAN VIOLENCE BETWEEN SHIA AND SUNNI MUSLIMS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER 1000 YEARS AND DID NOT START WITH THE U.S. IN IRAQ
