Thank you very much this has helped out a lot. I forgot that our raw marks were moderated and my teachers always said that our marks would go up 10 - 15 marks coz they mark pretty hard. Besides in my old school for English i always got around 70% and at my new school im getting around 50 - 60% but thank you it makes more sense to me now.

well yeah it takes into account how hard they mark it. do they also take into account the differences in ranks?
coz if someone only missed out first rank by 1point, but somehow in the final exam the difference between the first and second is like 40%, wouldnt that be unfair to the 2nd placed guy?
