ye, they're all combined degrees

ppl do actuarial/law coz they wanna sound like a freak

im doing combined appl finance. although i have pondered about tranfering to combined comp..but den i fink wats gonna happen to me if sum1 invents a new type of comp with much better AI.

mq isnt the best place to study law. u only need uai of arounf 95 to get in.
the commerce subjects however are ok. The uai's for commerce subjects in mq have been rising in the past yrs and they've recently broken the 90uai barrier. So its slowly catching usyd and unsw.

combined eco is broader den combined appl finance

Flyin: What's with all exclamations marks all ova the place?

I reckon i've met more people doubling up with ecos than law. It would probably go:
1. Applied finance
=2. Ecos
=2. Comp
3. Law
4. Maths
5. Stat

And yeah people just do law to sound good.
Plenty do the single degree too (not just the dumbasses like me) e.g. there is a 2nd year guy who has 9 HDs and he is doing the straight degree and says he wouldn't do a double if he got paid.

The only reason why MQ commerce courses have a lower cutoff is beacuse they offer more places than syd or nsw, hence there will be a larger range of uais in the course..and therefore a greater chance of having a lower uai as the last person to get in.

"Why would someone study the B commerce - actuarial studies combined with B Law?

The combined qualification increases your value and your potential earning capacity as well as providing you with a second career option should you wish to be a lawyer and/or an actuary. It will also assist you in dealing with the Actuary industry as this can involve a fair amount of regulation. A legal background can also give you a good springboard to working your way into management positions."

- Just my 2 cents (from an actuarial / law student :p - hey someone has got to stick up for us)
