😔 2026 chat is crazy dead its just me and shavi
im done with all my exams and ive got animal crossing new horizons to start a schedule (playing for like half an hour then studying for half an hour), hoping it'll convince my brain to stop procrastinating since i've gotten reading recommendations for y11 eng + ext & i wanna finish them before midterm

for eng ext: dracula
for eng adv: othello, the thing around your neck & moonlight (i think it's a movie??)
most of these were direct recommendations from one of the eng + ext teachers, all of which were things that his y11's were studying at the moment

the stories just felt too disconnected to me like from memory it goes like
a letter - a story on a boat - someone who saw it happening - the actual story
its just too disconnected for me to feel anything
im sure theres a literary reason against it but i really dont know why mary shelley didnt just like write about the actual story

for dracula it was only sorta like that in the first half but frankenstein it was all in

well i did just finish dracula
i found that it REALLY picked up in the second half
i had a similar problem with frankenstein
Bro frankenstein made me cry for some reason it aint even sad
i think its bc we get like a relationship typa attachment towards the characters so when they all die it just hits u idk or maybe just me

I kinda liked the formality of it tho
letter - describing what happening - random chapter 1 - links back to the letter

honestly i think its nice but confusing to understand at first she should’ve made it more obvious
