what subjects scale well and which ones don't? Also how do you know if they scale well or not?
I've always struggled with understanding all of that :frown2: :frown2:

Have a look at the scaling reports released by UAC: https://www.uac.edu.au/assets/documents/scaling-reports/scaling-report-2022-nsw-hsc.pdf
The subjects that scale well have a higher scaled mean for reference.
I'm not sure which are the best scaling off the top of my head, but obviously Advanced and Extension subjects scale wayyyyyy better than others.

it really doesn’t matter

easier subject = people do better = scales worse
harder subject = people do worse = scales better

so it averages out, with the exception of maths ext 1/2 which provide significantly more people with high scaled marks than all other subjects do thanks to some oddities with how scaling works

yeah i don't quite understand why but maths ext 1 in particular seems to be disproportionately godly in scaling compared to the level of work required to do well
