This is far from the truth.. Sir_R_Sole managed 99.7 without doing anything for most of Year 11 and 12 he just crammed for the HSC exams.. And youre friends with one of my friends and he told me you study 24/7 so stop trying to make others think they need to study as hard as you did just to succeedSome of you will be thinking that I am being rather forward, but I can tell you that there are year 12 students out there who are regretting not getting ahead in year 11. Year 11, despite what others say, can make or break your year 12. How well you do in year 11 will dictate the streaming for your year 12 classes, and that can affect how well you do in your HSC exams.
Well...I may have exaggerated a little. In Year 12, I did study consistently for Maths and, to a lesser extent, English. This is far from the truth.. My point still stands, hes acting like if you dont study like crazy in Year 11, your ATAR will be doomed..Well...I may have exaggerated a little. In Year 12, I did study consistently for Maths and, to a lesser extent, English.
My friend missed out by 0.05 trying to get into USYD Law. If he had worked harder in year 11 for maths (which was easily his weakest subject), he could have been moved to the A or B math classes (which are taught by a gun and the guy who wrote Cambridge respectively) and would be doing arts/law instead of adv arts. His lack of work in year 11 has literally costed him a year at uni. Think about it.Originally Posted by Sacredoblivion

Couldn't have said it better. As you can see from my ad, I am only offering support in Chemistry and Physics. These two subjects were my favourite and I ranked first overall in at school.Originally Posted by Sanical

Many are teaching mainly for money. You can tell because they are just teaching all their subjects and don't specialise in any of them - key sign they're in it for the money. Best to look for a 2011 tutor who teaches 1-2 subjects, instead of all of them.
Mate how stupid can you get... youre saying he missed out on his course cos he didnt work hard enough in Year 11, how can you even use that as a reason... He obviously didnt work hard enough in Year 12My friend missed out by 0.05 trying to get into USYD Law. Lol sanical said 'many are teaching mainly for money' and you reply with 'couldnt have said it better' when youre charging $50 per hour while everyone else on BOS is charging $25 LOLCouldn't have said it better. I should have mentioned that I already have students 1 to 1, but with uni starting soon, I can't keep changing dates and days for students. Hence I have decided to go for small classes
ThisThe ONLY reward for tutoring students is to see them appreciate the subject and see them get top marks. At the very most, compensation should be viewed as a bonus, not a necessity.
I dont think there is anything wrong with doing tutoring as a part time job or as a way to earn money, although I agree that you need to have a passion for it as well as a genuine interest in helping your students succeed. It isnt the kind of job you can do "just for the money"The ONLY reward for tutoring students is to see them appreciate the subject and see them get top marks. He definitely worked hard in year 12, but if had put more effort or got some help in year 11, he would have been in the top 4u maths streams. The teachers in these two streams are gun, one even wrote cambridge, and in 4u, the quality of your teacher can have huge impacts on your results.Originally Posted by bladeys

okay mate so maybe at your school you need to do well in year 11 to get into the top maths class but youre offering chem and physics tutoring and at most school classes arent graded for chem and physics so your argument about trying really hard in year 11 to get into the top class is invalid..He definitely worked hard in year 12, but if had put more effort or got some help in year 11, he would have been in the top 4u maths streams.
