I assume they were all people with a 1st in state?
Not at all.

Out of the five, 2 people had one non first state ranking (3rd and 5th respectively), 2 people had no state rankings at all, and one had a few state ranks and a 1st.

Put differently, I was the only one out of the 5 state toppers to get 99.95. That said, the others all got 99+ :)

The cause of the discrepancy is St Andrew's Christian School at rank 25. The DT has left it in, while the SMH decided not to include it.

Pymble had FIVE 99.95s (but was ranked 20th nonetheless). I don't think ranking tables reflect the quality of a school adequately tbh.
Well, I mean, you've got to consider the quality of ALL the students, even if 5 people got 99.95. Especially in the HSC where the mark depends almost entirely on the quality of its lowest student. (The whole internal HSC assessment mark) (Not to sound mean or anything). I don't like league tables nonetheless =p

This year's group also broke our run of at least one state ranking per year. Since 2004, we always had at least one state ranking every year until this year...lol. You guys better bring it up next year (no pressure :p)!!!
ahah thanks for the vote of confidence (Y) but even if we do manage to bring it up knowing the next grade, i'm predicting possible 70s ranking for 2011

Hmm. I see what you're saying, but I don't really buy the rationale behind ranking tables nor do I buy its processes and methods. That said, I fully believe that Ruse deserves its first place and that Baulko, Grammar etc deserve their high places.

It's mean, but probably true. Except I think the '11ers are smarter than the '09ers. Hopefully.
