I was accelerated in MX1 and now doing MX2. Is it necessary to have remember everything in MX1 for MX2?

Not particularly. The overlap is not as large as the 2u/3u overlap. However Harder 3 unit is 40% of the course so you will eventually be developing on the skills you learn in 3u.

You won't have to remember much, just probability, induction and circle geo I think. All the other stuff is fairly new in 4u.

Yes. In my opinion you won't be able to attempt the questions BOS gives to separate the students in the state if you don't consolidate 2/3U!

- That being said it shouldn't be hard for you. :)

It is necessary to have the skills such as how to find the locus, differentiation, integration etc as they are all extended into Extension 2.

However actual content like Projectile Motion etc, not so much.

I believe it is very beneficial to
Know the 3unit course for 4u. I did
The 3u HSC in year 11 and in year 12
It made 4u easier for me

Yeah, my 3U memory of the course is deteriorating after focusing so much on my other subjects so I'm quite thankful that most of it isn't very necessary. I do remember things like Circle Geometry, probability and induction since the first two were my strongest topics and the third was decent.

My school is doing harder 3U throughout the year since my whole class was accelerated - we did inequalities today and that was quite hard.

The general harder 3 unit unequalities
Are one of the easier parts of harder

Yeah, I know but - they're not gonna ask a whole test of 2 and 3 Unit work.
But I think most students would not want to risk wasting marks in an exam simply because they didn't bother studying various 2U topics.

I would want to lose marks because I genuinely cannot do the question, not because I was being lazy.

I think this year's Q8 had series and sequences in it. Consider if a 4U concept is built upon 2U. Though this may not tested directly, you may acquire some skills associated with the 2/3U content. We are fast approach HY exams (30ish %). Every mark matters.
