hey ppl, i jus did my 1/2 yearli, apperantly i came 2nd with 66%, im coming 1st over all.....how gay is that? i go to a pretty........unacademical, wait, is that evn a word? o well, its english -_-

so how did u ppl go in standard eng?

heys..yeah i just had ma half yearly too..i passed i got 35/45 i havent found out ma ranks just yet..hope its gud..coz i heard that not many peoplz did well..i'll laugh if my score is the highest lol.hehe thats wat happened in the last exams and i came second in year 11.

I came 8th in the English Standard exam and I also only got about 64% lol ...

But I bet my half-yearly mark will still be repulsive ...

no raw mark is not a band 4, your mark is moderated first before you're allocated to your recommended bands...its rank not marks that count the most!

i received a 33/50=66% and this is a top 5 mark Im pretty sure..if not top 10 lol

i got 21/30 - 70% so thats like just a band 4. i dont know about rankings

it was realli dissapointing...i got 84%
the major reason that my mark got pulled down is because of my stpd creative writing...:-( arrrrrgh.

Band 6-100-90%
Band 5-89-80%
Band 4-79-70%
Band 3-69-60%
Band 2-59-50%
Band 1-49-0%

So many people say this but it is not and should no be looked at like this...sure they count but not in EVERY case...marks are still very important because if u are ranked 1st with 90 all year but come 8th in exam with 60 you will get about 60ish which may not necessarily be the top mark...your marks are just as important as your ranks.

i got 65% in english and came first in my class, everyone else failed in my class ... my school is crap, and yeh ... i suppose i was even lucky enough to get into the 60's.

The next mark below me was 44% so the marks vary quiet a bit ...

Some people in my year got band 4's and high band 3's and didn't even know how to answer the question, or what they had to write about. And these were people that i beat by like 30-40 marks in the trials. Just take note of that.

well i got about 65% overall raw in english, i slightly improved in the exam (a couple of marks) and ended up with a hsc mark of 73. so there's some truth to it. i was really low ranked in a top 50 school (but i also did advanced). if that's any guide to you.

Things are looking good for me then but I will still try to improve anyway. I wanna try and get at least 70% in every assessment from now on. I probably would of got 70% for my last assessment but I talked about my prescribed text (Truman Show) too much and not much on my 2 related texts. I've seen an essay that had this problem in the resource section and it still got like 16/20. I think my school just marks essays hard. Overall my essay was about 3.5 A4 pages.
