Did Anyone Get Confused By The Wording Of The Time Dilation Question

Might I just add the question doesn't mention acceleration at all? It says nothing about leaving earth at rest...you can safely assume he starts at 0.8c. Then when he gets to the star, there is no turning around, no stopping mentioned. Therefore...special relativity. D.

    Scaling/ Bands and The Exam

There is no defined number of band 6s. If everyone did well they would be forced to give everyone band 6. But since that's never a been a problem its never happened.

Did Anyone Get Confused By The Wording Of The Time Dilation Question

dnt stop has it right... Coz if you think about it, the earth is moving away at 0.8c as well. Therefore observers from BOTH frames see things slower in the other frame of reference. The question was what time had elapsed on the Earth clock as seen by the astronaut. So the answer must be D...

    Quotes!

Just calm down, if you read the first chapter there are oodles, as well as the savage reservation and mond's discussion with john. For BR I'd recommend you watch the film again - but look out for what Tyrell and the replicants say. Remember film techniques works as quotes for BR, but don't...

    really dodgy dot points..

A more efficient place would be the abundant sources of notes from other people at your school or on this website. Jacaranda's mediocrity is particulary uninsightful.

    a very dumb motor question

You just need to remember 2 things: 1) It's not a force, it's really voltage or energy (same same) 2) It's an induced voltage.

    Rates of change

Yes I suck at rates of change - here is a cambridge 3U q. (ex 7E, Q11) A point moves around the circle x^2 + y^2 = 1 at a uniform speed of 2m/s. (a) Find an expression for the rate of change of its x-coordinate in terms of x, when the point is above the x-axis. (The units on the axes are...

    Space - DP Problem

Re: I got it now. Sorry I have a problem. I don't think that orbital velocity does not increase with radius as you asserted. Since v is inversely proportional to r, it would follow that as r increases, v decreases. As r->infinity, v->0. This makes sense if you think about it. Gravity...

    Brave New World

well i think it is important to note in BNW, nature is seen as unnecessary is superfluous with regards to stability. This obviously stems from the fact that in the 30s no one was particularly concerned about humanity's impact on the environment. i guess you could talk about Huxley's descriptions...

    Speeches?!?! where?

Just know a bit of all of them. If the question deals with a speech you haven't focussed on in as much depth, use that as a springboard to your better texts. There is nothing stopping you from mentioning one speech for just a paragraph.
