    Bad Lecturers

Because lab tutors get paid to help students. I had already had tried to help myself by looking through the lab notes and lecturenotes. If I am meant to look up everything on google then what are the point of the tutors? Why should I go to labs (or even bother going to uni) if I'm not going to...

    Bad Lecturers

Maybe when you did it (well at least with 114).... In 114 I asked one of the tutors (I think it was Cindy?) how the rand() function works (it was in that weeks lab), and she told me to look it up on google....

Is Information Technology and Computer Science deteriorating?

My general feeling on this is that they have let people in that they would not normally let in because of funding. Hence they lower the standard. If you just look at the people who would have gotten in at a higher standard, well they are probably more towards your standard Hopefully the dean...

Is Information Technology and Computer Science deteriorating?

It sounds like you have had fun lab tutoring for csci204

    SITACS subject outline archives

You need your informatics password (that 14 character long one you need to log on to sitacs windows computers). The default password has something to with your student card number (near the barcode).

    Computer Science Vs ICT

IF you want to go into the more advance/theoretical stuff. But really that is true for any science type area. So I still wouldn't worry about the maths unless you actually want to understand how matrices are used to transform images and what not.

    Computer Science Vs ICT

oh no - not maths Get over it, the maths needed for comp sci is NOTHING like what you have done at school. If you work hard, and don't have the fear of maths that most comp sci people seem to have, you will be fine

how is the reputation of UOW in australia?

    Bastardly :P - besides Nick

    General Question- Maths 187/188

It is possible to tackle 187/188 with 2U maths - I know a few friends who have. The main disadvantage you will have is that some 3U integration and differation is covered in 187 but not in the depth it would have been in 3U. 188 has nothing in it from 3U. So my advice would be start of with...

how is the reputation of UOW in australia?

I'm quite suprised - you got through an undergraduate degree at wollongong, and this is the first time you've had a shit tutor? Try the vast majority of csci103, csci114, csci102 tutors

Most of o-week stuff is on the grassy bit nearish to building 14, next to unibar

    enrol online?

Last year we enroled in all our subjects (well at least for Autumn) when we went to the uni to enrole. In informatics tutes/lab enrolements are done through the internet roughly 2 weeks before semester starts. Lectures you don't enrole in - they are just there when you enrole in your subjects

    Mathematics at UoW

Neither sort of - Actually am a BMath/Comp Sci To your earlier question - nothing really wrong with 187/188 - its just 187 was a rehash of caculus I had done in year 12, with linear algebra (which wasn't too bad) and vector stuff (which I couldn't stand). MATH188 I didn't mind so much by the...

    Wii

As a girl who doesn't play games too often - I would say Zelda or Rayman (although only Rayman if she has other poeple to play with)

hi, I'm after text books for "Network and Systems Management"

Essentially what everybody said - although I did do CSCI103 this year - there is a prescribe text book, but was never refered to in lectures - don't bother with it. Also nearly positive that ECTE has no text book A good rule of the thumb is not to get a text book until the lecturer has told you...

    where to buy clear mascara!!

on a semi-related topic - does anyone know where to get coloured mascara (as in purple, red....) I saw them in the nutrimetrics catalogue, but was wondering if there was a cheaper option

    Wollongong Suburbs

Uananderra isn't too bad in certain areas - in others I wouldn't want to be there by myself after dark. Also try and avoid Port Kembla. Most suburbs that are adjacent to the uni are decent though Most students (that I know) live in Gwynneville and in Fairy Meadow.

    Bad Lecturers

Look - Daniel isn't bad at all. The fact that he admitted that he couldn't work it out is quite good - I've had tutors (in CSCI), when they couldn't work out something, they told me to google it. Yes he is obsessed with macs - but most people who likes macs are. Yes he does like to get under...
