@mKristie yeah I agree, Japanese by itself is not a good idea, career prospects get limited and you dont develop a wide range of skills. What are you planning on pairing it with and at what university?

I personally don't think Japanese continuers is very hard if you keep up with the vocab (spend about 15 minutes a night just repeating it)....it's pretty rewarding because you feel like screaming in delight when u can identify what the conversation is "vaguely about" when watching...
