Bachelor of Applied Science (MRS) Diagnostic Radiography-USYD

Hi. I'm just about to finish up first year doing radiography. I found it pretty tough in first semester because there's so much content. Units in semester one include physics, biochem, anatomy/physiology and prep for practice. Three out of the four units are all science based so you need to...

    eas scheme

^ Yeah, you'll get considered but it still depends on demand. How EAS works at usyd is that they allocate a set number of places specifically for students under the EAS scheme. So if you do get accepted for eligibility for EAS, you won't be competing with everyone else but just with the people...

Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science

Hello. I'm not doing a B of Excercise Sports Science degree but I do go to cumberland. 1. Can't answer that. Though I say if you enjoy sports and science than you'll like the degree (I heard its pretty bludgy) 2. Nope bridging courses suck at USYD. Don't do them. 3. Yes its a bitch to get to...

    Bachelor of Oral Health

Did you go to USYD's open day and to the oral health lecture? I'm sure they answered it all there. BUT, it is hard to get into oral health - its quite competitive now. Not too sure about the PQA but last time I check, ATAR wasnt listed as a requirement for oral health. However, I do recommend...

What are the advantages of doing a double degree?

Ehh, I always believed it's better to complete one degree and achieving credits or honours in it is better than having a regular double degree. But I do see the attraction of a double degree - keep in mind that there is more work and hours involved in a double degree though.

    Bachelor of Medical Science

@above no you'd need an MBBS to be a doctor. If you have a B of Medical Science majoring in neuroscience you'd be a medical scientist with a major in neuroscience. @OP, I was going to do Medical Science and then try my luck at post-grad dentistry but then I strayed away from it because it was...

    Is this true?

Wait what? I dont understand your question. And I didn't read through the thread so someone else might have said something. Anyways, you get offered on your FIRST preference IF you make the ATAR cutoff. All your other preferences after that are void. The uni doesn't discriminate on whether you...

    Veterinary Science USYD

I have a friend that got into vet science this year. He's ATAR was 97.55 so he only just managed. He's timetable is packed, five full days. Vet has one of the highest contact hours - even higher than engineering. You need to do STAT and score above 150. Yes, STAT is used as a filter. Everyone...

    Dentistry

Hello. It's funny because I was in your exact position a year ago when I was finishing my HSC. I'll give you some advice from someone who's gone through researching everything pretty thoroughly. I did consider doing UG dent interstate however in the end, I wasn't willing or ready to move out of...

    Radiography into Radiology

Generally about 50k post-NPDP (intern year). However, the NPDP is getting much harder to find. Well this years cut-off was 95.50 which is pretty high. I only just managed to scrape in. I'm assuming it'll stay the same or rise in 2013. No special tests. However, I do recommend you do as much...

    Radiography into Radiology

Hi. Like others said, you need to get into medicine to become a radiologist. A lot of people in my course want to become radiologists too but they don't realise that radiography doesn't offer direct entry into medicine/radiology. About radiography, the cutoff is getting higher. The cutoff...

Go Uni, Come Home, Go Uni, rinse and repeat..... WBU?

Pretty much same here but thats because of exams and assignments are ruining my life. Try to talk to people and hang out with them. Join a club or something. The thing I've realised is that people are really friendly at uni. It's so much different from school! :)

What undergrad course should I do to get into post-grad Dentistry?

I think any health or medical-related course would be fine.

So what happens if you fail?

I'm kinda depressed at the moment. I'm currently doing a B of App Science (MRS) Diagnostic Radiography. I got 60% for my mid-semester for Anatomy (BIOS1155) and the average was 79% and got 65% for BIOS1167 and the average was 75%. And then there's Physics (MRTY1031) which is just depressing. I...

Possible Pathways to Dentistry / Medicine

In metropolitan sydney, only USYD offer Dentistry however its a post-grad course. I'd recommend doing B Sc/Ad Sc/Med Sc and then do post-grad dent. Requirements are pretty rough for dentistry, you must do GAMSAT which I heard is 100 times harder than UMAT (its a REALLY long exam) as well as...

Finished HSC 2011, started course but hated-have no idea what I want to study? HELP!

Re: Finished HSC 2011, started course but hated-have no idea what I want to study? HE Rather than thinking about good job prospects etc etc, why don't you consider what you like? What do you enjoy doing? Do you like science? writing? maths? And then work out a course/career path from there...

Is it possible to do Radiology without doing any science subjects in the HSC?

If you're referring to radiography, I'm currently doing that course right now at USYD. I would suggest you do chemistry, biology AND physics in HSC because the course is very science-based and very hands on. You don't need to worry too much about physics because USYD provides a peer-mentoring...

How can I better prepare myself for such a competitive degree?

I have a friend that made it into vet this year and he said 'it's really, really hard' but not only that it is VERY competitive and is one of a handful of courses which has the most contact hours! Unfortunately, you'll need to be able to know HSC level biology and chemistry (not so sure about...

    Semester 1 Timetables

Yes I pressed that as well. First I pressed 'try customisation' but the same timetable just comes up with the days I clicked in blue. And then I click 'Allocate me a similar timetable' but I still get the exact same one. And its weird because that class isn't yellow so I'm assuming I can change...

    Semester 1 Timetables

I can't change my timetable for some reason. I ticked a day to make it unavailable and then I go 'collect a new timetable' but its exactly the same as my previous one. Any help?
