Well, not to take away from your glory, but one of the reasons that has been cited for females performing rather well in the hsc is that male brain development is slower than females, and thus at 16/17 they have quite an advantage. This gap decreases during university.

    What UAI did you get?

The reason scaling occurs is because people perform better in some subjects than others.... There's nothing unfair about it what-so-ever unless you want to make-believe that all the students doing humanities subjects are just smarter than the maths students?

who did BAD? I mean not 99.95 or 98.25? i mean like 60s?

I think it's sound advice to tell people to think about options other than university.

    Hsc At Tafe?

Is it possible to defer a university offer, and re-sit the hsc... then still take up that offer if you so choose the next year?

who did BAD? I mean not 99.95 or 98.25? i mean like 60s?

Oh no, what i mean by >65 is >65 average mark at university... or greater than a 5.0 gpa. If you want, you can sign up for some course at uws.... work hard at it for half a year, get a gpa above 5.0, and pwn.

who did BAD? I mean not 99.95 or 98.25? i mean like 60s?

It's alot easier for a plumber to set up a plumbing business than it is for a doctor to set up a large private practice. I don't think too many plumbers will end up being fucked over, most of them work for small companies, and if the small company doesn't pay them right they will tell the...

    UTS v UWS

But if you wanted to do criminology, and were getting offered a $10,000 a year scholarship you might be thinking differently?

What do employers think of UWS?

You are correct, but the other option is asian-superfreaks and curries? The people at UWS are all nice, as i'm sure the people at most uni's are.

    UTS v UWS

To be honest, the negative stigma of the course... and the unemployment rate of 25% for uws law graduates has turned me off the university. Of course, I imagine someone such as yourself would have no problem topping your cohort at uws and probably taking out the medallion... but it's something...

who did BAD? I mean not 99.95 or 98.25? i mean like 60s?

If you were planning on going to uws, you only need a grade average of above credit... >65 average, to be granted access into any course at uws. So if you were planning on going to uws and can get into any course, it might be worth your time to just do that course for half a year, get above a...

    lowering uai cut offs

Last year there was a massive drop in the uai's for some courses due to the government opening up more spaces (particularily at uws), and there being a smaller ammount of students in the 2004 cohort. I don't believe this will happen this year, however I do believe there could be some changing...

who did BAD? I mean not 99.95 or 98.25? i mean like 60s?

IMO it is easier for someone in your situation to make it into a uni course (at least one with a fairly high cut-off) via repeating the hsc than through tafe. However if you just missed out, tafe would be the go.

    UTS v UWS

I'm currently studying uws law and i'm attempting to transfer to uts. However, if I wanted to do criminology... I dunno, it would be a much harder choice. If I could get the 10,000/year scholarship I would stay at uws :P

who did BAD? I mean not 99.95 or 98.25? i mean like 60s?

At this point, if you wanted to go to uni... I would be suggesting re-taking the hsc at tafe, and working your arse off... or doing a course at tafe, and working your arse off, to gain entrance to university.
  18. N

i cant believe it was so low!

The reason why marks go down every year is because teachers start to perfect how to teach the hsc material, students start to gain access to more material on the matter, and thus the average marks keep increasing.

who did BAD? I mean not 99.95 or 98.25? i mean like 60s?

Well yes, fair enough... but people that have been through ALOT have been able to achieve 60's, 70's... university is like a never-ending hsc, if you couldn't handle it before you'd want to be very confident you can handle it again.
