What is the best way to prepare for maths 2 unit and 3 unit trials?

He ordered them going harder towards the bottom (as he said, higher numbers were harder).

    HSC 2016 Chemistry Marathon

Re: HSC Chemistry Marathon 2016 I'm lazy again, so I'll do it algebraically for now (I'm essentially doing the general case). Let the required mass be m. Let the molar mass of Cu2S be M (you can find this value online or calculate it from a Periodic Table). Let N = 4.6 * 1023. So our goal is...

    HSC 2016 Chemistry Marathon

Re: HSC Chemistry Marathon 2016 What was the method you were using before? I think you were treating molar mass as M' = 2m_Cr, where m_Cr is the molar mass of chromium, and then saying: moles of chromium = m/M' = 2(m_Cr)/(140) ? If so, that method is invalid, which is why you'd have been...

    HSC 2016 Chemistry Marathon

Re: HSC Chemistry Marathon 2016 The answer is 2*m/M = 2*140/(151.9904) (explanation given in my previous post).

    HSC 2016 Chemistry Marathon

Re: HSC Chemistry Marathon 2016 (Relevant page on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromium(III)_oxide.) From the Wikipedia link, the molar mass of chromium (III) oxide is 151.9904 g/mol. (You could also have found this from a Periodic Table if you knew that chromium (III) oxide...

    Prelim 2016 Maths Help Thread

Have you tried sketching the graph of the function? You should probably master that first, as it is helpful for these types of Q's, and other Q's.

    4u MATHS (12U Total) vs PD/H/PE (13U Total)

You should probably do 4U as it scales (much) better and you said you would have liked to have been rid of PDHPE anyway.

Want to drop ext 1 maths :(

There seem to be many people who do General Maths 2 instead of 2U maths though (including people who want to pursue something like science or engineering), and get higher ATAR's because of it (there are lots of newspaper articles that can be found online about this). I'm guessing the reason...

    4u MATHS (12U Total) vs 13U Total

You should probably do 4U, it provides an ATAR boost if you do well, and it scales well.

    Cambridge Prelim MX1 Textbook Marathon/Q&A

    Re: Year 11 Mathematics 3 Unit Cambridge Question & Answer Thread $\noindent For (e), note $PC = AC -AP = \frac{1}{x} -1$, because from the previous part, $AP=1$, $AC = DA$ (by symmetry), and $DA = \frac{1}{x}$. But note that triangle $BPC$ is isosceles$^\dagger$ with $PC = BC = x$. So from...

a quadratic equation that doesn't have any real solution

$\noindent (Assuming the coefficients are real) Graphically it means when you graph the quadratic, it won't cross/touch the $x$-axis. It means that no real number will satisfy the equation. E.g. consider the equation $x^2+1=0$. This has no real solutions because no real number $x$ satisfies...

Reason for James Ruse 1st in State and why is it not happening in other states?

Probably a Moderator saw it more fit placed here.

Reason for James Ruse 1st in State and why is it not happening in other states?

It's harder to happen in high school because skipping a grade then is much more than skipping a primary-school grade.

You said you don't want pure enjoyment books, but isn't something like chess going to be for enjoyment (unless you plan on going pro)?

Why won't selective schools+top private schools have more subject accelerations

Some potential reasons could be that they see no point in it or because certain subjects are really popular in Year 12 anyway and if they offered it in Year 11 too there may be too many students doing them. Or maybe they think by accelerating certain subjects, it would reduce their Band 6...
