Email advertising from Bored of Studies

They only come once every few months lol. Nothing to worry about. Though I remember when I got the one from ADFA a few months ago, the link in the ad was dead (yes I was interested in it). IDK if BoS or if UNSW need to fix this.

    Student Amenities Fees

As Blue Suede said. You can defer them and add them to your HELP fees. I know UNSW do it, so I'm guessing most other unis do it too.

    99 ATAR possible in a low-ranked school?

I would certainly vouch for this. The cohorts before mine did terrible and the ATARs all below 90 for about 5-6 years before me. There was a student the year before with the same subjects as me and got around 82. I used that as motivation to do my best and in the end I was very happy with my...

    Program Change

That's still ok I guess in getting units done (they all are required in first year so its fine). Though if you got such great marks in maths then maybe MATH1141 is worth it for you (it will be helpful later on). Unfortunately, I think you might have to end up leaving ELEC1112 and ELEC2141 until...

    Program Change

For BE ME the recommended first semester structure is to take MATH1131/1141, ELEC1112, ELEC2141 and PHYS1131. Note that COMP1917 and ENGG1000 are also to be done here, but ELEC1112 and ELEC2141 are only offered in Semester one every year so its recommended to follow the structure or you could...

Is an ATAR of 80+ considered good?

At a 600+ school, I had first hand experience of seeing some people that were happy to get into TAFE with a mystery mark. I thought I would get less than 375/500 in aggregate. Then results came and I was happy.

Marks and Atars of people who did General Mathematics?

Better than Physics aligning this year lol. 86 raw got me 92. But you can get any ATAR with General maths as a 2-unit subject.

    Textbooks at UNSW.

So we can use it for the full year without having to get another one? And we can just read lecture notes and add our own notes to them from lectures, tutorials, labs and textbook to be ready for a good mark in the exam? Sweet.

    Textbooks at UNSW.

Ok thanks for that. In that case maybe its wise to buy and then sell the PHYS textbook as I'm actually doing Electrical engineering. I'll ask the lecturers before buying the textbooks then about whether its worth it for my course. But how much of the over 1000 page textbooks actually directly...

    99 ATAR possible in a low-ranked school?

I got 96+ at a school ranked in the 600's. It is definitely possible.

    Textbooks at UNSW.

Post any queries you have about textbooks here and maybe someone can help you out. My query: What is the difference between prescribed and recommended textbooks? Which one is better off being bought? Also, with textbooks like the Fundamentals of Physics one, since they are over 1000...

    How safe is Redfern?

Yeah the train rides at night are not the best. This is the only time that you would actually want to be in the one carriage that is fully packed.

    SSAF fee's

I can't remember where I read it but there was a date threshold on applying for SA-HELP.

    SSAF fee's

Ok thanks. I have a ton of other stuff to pay for now and there is no real benefit of paying it now (Luckily I applied just before the 22nd when they closed deferment of SSAF).

I know this sounds stupid, but what equipment do you need for uni?

Come to think of it having 6 slides on each page and double paging them will mean you only need about 30 pages max. for the lecture notes. Might be a good idea if I find it difficult to keep up with Schief in writing in a workbook.

    SSAF fee's

When do you know that you will definitely receive a deferment though? When I do this: Log onto myUNSW --> My Student Profile (Tab) --> Commonwealth Government forms, It says "HECS-HELP eligible" for HECS, but for SA-HELP it says "SA-HELP applied for". Does that mean its automatically deferred?

    Same with me.

I know this sounds stupid, but what equipment do you need for uni?

I got both sets. If you look closely they are the exact same notes. However one set of notes is only for the first chapter (I think 20 pages) and the other set is for the whole course or something (300 pages). So either way I think you will have to deal with a monstrosity of notes. IDK but...
