    FINS1613 vs ECON1101 gen ed

Need to do one of them next semester (semester one 2015) as a gen ed. Want something that is not too difficult to get 75+ in, takes minimal time during the semester to spend time on, uses more maths, has no essays, looks somewhat interesting, has a minimal amount of assessment tasks and can...

    Flexible First Year

I would advise that you pick a major for the time being that you are most likely to lead into. I'll explain why. When you pick the flexible program, you do your first semester with the generic lot of courses which every engineer does. In second semester you can do a few electives (usually two...

comp science at unsw or usyd

I don't know much about USyd's School of Computing, but UNSW's school is pretty awesome. They have prizes all the time for outstanding students. As a student you get access to a server where you can code, test the code and run it. The building is quite new and the school has a good structure...

    Engineering at various universities

Depends what they did at UTS really. I had a mate transfer from USyd to UNSW and got only 36 units of credit out of the 48 he did at USyd to be accredited towards his program at UNSW. So he had to do a few more courses to catch up.

    How tall are you?

If units are not specified, then assume mm (come on you are a Mechanical Engineer, I'm an EE so expect mm or some imperial crap, whichever is more appropriate for the situation).

Not sure if I've grown but I think I am 1750.

    Gpe question

The work required to lift the satellite to the orbit is just the change in potential energy. That is, W = \Delta U = mg(h_{final}-h_{Earth}) To place a satellite into the orbit, the satellite must have a sufficient orbital speed to keep it in that orbit. Hence, as InteGrand said: This is an...

    Engineering at various universities

In terms of transferring into UNSW or USyd, you have to refer to external tranfer programs at those universities and what requirements are required or how competitive it can get. Also, through external transfers you have to consider how many credit units you are accredited for the university...

    Bachelor of Engineering/Commerce?

I answered your question on job prospects here: http://community.boredofstudies.org/585/engineering/332493/engineering-job-prospects.html Now career paths in EE are quite broad. You can end up in many different types of environments as an EE, including laboratory, industrial (factory-like)...

    Student OPAL cards

Nah the newsagency buys them and sells them to attract more customers to buy from them. Tbh bus passes are easier as then students will abuse transport to other places other than school. With bus passes, at least the driver can check if you are jigging school/home or not. That's pretty much...

    Red P Plate test Penrith

Can take 30 minutes. Can take 1 hour. Really the examiner has to make sure they have tested you on enough items first. Also depends on the examiner as I know some people who took like 20 minutes for some odd reason (not sure how because mine was so long in comparison and it wasn't even heavy...

    Scholarship money

I think with youth allowance, if you have something like $11000 in your bank account then you stop getting paid. Also, you have to declare your scholarship when applying otherwise if they find it suspicious to be getting regular payments and they find out, you might end up having to pay some...

    What's studying engineering like?

It's quite manageable to work part-time and have extra-curriculars and be a full-time engineering student coping alright. Study on top of contact hours is probably something between 10 to 20 hours per week if you want to get great-ish marks. In terms of how combined programs work, your contact...
