    Future Plans (UAI/Uni/Tafe/Job)

Re: What ATAR are you aiming for and realistically, what do you think you will get? The course I'm looking at seems to be climbing higher every couple of years. I'd essentially need 90+ to get in (or a really good portfolio otherwise). Realistically, If I busted my ass every day and...

    The Art Thread

I'm doing my art BOW and working on some digital paintings for a portfolio, sketching and learning anatomy in between. Very time consuming.

    SBS designer people

Last night's episode was boring, some british guy and indian girl making cutlery and crockery. I couldn't finish it. The other episode recently was really good, the One Laptop Per Child campaign, and how they were made was really interesting.

    Art at University?

No art degree can ever show that you are good at art. You could have attended 5 art schools and Uni degrees and still not be able to draw or paint. The only time you would need such a resume in art is working for a company (which you could expect to be interviewed and have a portfolio with you)...

    is art a bludge

Pollock and Warhol weren't always the hardest working artists.. Just get a bucket of paint and splash it on. Art teachers love spontaneous crap, and the art galleries always have a look that they are going for, adhere to that if it doesn't bother you. Warhol didn't even do many of his prints...

    Fringe

Resurrecting the dead here, but has anyone actually finished season 1? It heightens so well and the finale was freaking brilliant. I could not stop thinking about the end. I was completely blown away. I urge anyone to finish the series. It's on DVD now. :jaw:

What have YOU done so far?

I'm actually far behind in bio notes. I'm actually writing notes for chapter 2 for the first time even when we should be at 3.5. I'm making good progress daily but I need that consistency in all of my subjects..

Do you have any portrait drawing tips.

Get the fundamentals right first. The beginning lines should look right from the start, and no matter how much you render those imperfect lines it won't fix. Once lines are done, block in basic shades. Get a feel for the tone of your drawing. Initially, limit yourself to shades of HB and B for...
