Should I do standard or advanced english?

    What these other people said.

Is it possible to get 100% in a subject?

I meant externals. Knowing the top people in my school, and other top selective/private schools, it's not hard to imagine more than 20 in the state getting 100% raw for the 2/3U externals. Anyway, that's beside the point. OP got her answer. Yes, it most certainly IS possible.

    Welcome to the club.

Is it possible to get 100% in a subject?

Many meaning "more than 20 people" in the state each year.

Is it possible to get 100% in a subject?

Of course it's possible. It just doesn't happen very often, especially for Humanities subjects. BTW, many people get a raw mark of 100% for 2/3U Mathematics.

Can I get a high ATAR (90+) with these subjects?

Low 80 for Chemistry Mid 80s for Mathematics, Biology and English High 80s for Legal Studies and PDHPE Will get you an ATAR of 90+. Btw, 2U Mathematics is NOT Mathematics Advanced. It's just Mathematics.

    advice plis :O?

You would need a high Band 5 or higher (87+) in all of your subjects (or at least 10 units) for a chance of an ATAR of 90+. Champion.

    Average atar for selective schools?

Maybe a bit higher. It's somewhere around mid 99. SBHS (2011 ranked 4th) median ATAR was probably high 97. ATAR calculators use your HSC mark...not your raw marks.

How many pages should you write for Advanced and Extension English essay q's?

They'd prefer integrated. However, linear is much easier to do.

    Memorising Essays

I can't speak about Legal and Biz, but memorising essays for Eco is just STUPID. There are up to 20 possible essay questions that they could ask and trying to memorise for all of them isn't practical. For the people who memorised essays for English (in my year), most of them stuck to what they...

What kind of marks do I need for 96+ with my subjects?

Mathematics Extension 1 Mathematics Extension 2 English (Advanced) Physics Chemistry 5 subjects. For many unis, Med doesn't have any prerequisite subjects. A bit direct, but sums up the argument nicely.

Is it true that drama is the lowest scaling HSC subject for 2012?

According to this link, for the 50th percentile, Aboriginal Studies is the lowest scaling subject with a scaled mark of 12.6/50. In contrast, Drama has a scaled mark of 23.9/50 and Mathematics Extension 2 has a scaled mark of 44.3/50. Depends on your definition of scaling, tbh.

How many pages should you write for Advanced and Extension English essay q's?

I wrote around 5 pages for each module, and 6 for my creative. However, my essays weren't memorised (except Mod C). I think I wrote around 1000 words for each essay. IN b4 next poster talks about "quality > quantity...it doesn't matter how much you write..."

Can 1 Subject Bring your ATAR down?

It's not like the difference between General Maths and Mathematics.
  15. LightXT

What kind of marks do I need for 96+ with my subjects?

The Asian 5 is what you're doing. Replacing Chem with Eco makes it slightly less Asian (As Chem scales better than both Phys and Eco, aligns better than Eco, and is more popular among selective school kids than Eco)
  16. LightXT

What kind of marks do I need for 96+ with my subjects?

Still...depends on what you define as "low scaling". The vast majority of 99.95ers do "high scaling" subjects. The good ol' Asian 5. 87 in all your subjects (exc. 4U), and 80 in 4U will get you 96+.
  17. LightXT

What kind of marks do I need for 96+ with my subjects?

What...? I think "many people" is a gross overstatement. Also, 4U English SCALES WORSE than English Advanced (for the same aligned marks). @OP: Using an ATAR Calculator, it looks like you'll need E4s/Band 6s for all of your subjects to have any hope of getting 96+.
