    Public transport noob~halp.

So I've just moved to Sydney (not used to pre-paid busses coming from Wollongongian territory) and I'm going to be taking the bus to uni, so I thought I'd buy one of the weekly travelten ticket things. Apparently I am in the 'zone 3' distance from home to uni. But I don't get it... How do the...

    Semester 1 timetables 2011

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be able to make a few changes in person at the Carslaw building thingy (I think that's what it's called? I always think of Coleslaw...). And you don't have to go to your allocated lecture if there's a later one that doesn't clash.

    fucking timetables

Annoying attitude is annoying... Look, I haven't even been complaining about it on here, but seriously... I am applying for jobs at the moment in Sydney because I've just moved here, and it really is an inconvenience when I'm not able to list my available days/hours. Most employers, especially...

Yes I will be working, otherwise I will be eating my own limbs for nourishment.

Is it possible to take 2-4 weeks off during Semester 2? Is it advisable?

Yeah I'm wondering about this too, but in semester 1. I have to get my wisdom teeth out and if I wait, my teeth are going to get crooked... :|

    Internet @ USYD

Sweeeeet, this makes me exceedingly happy. So it is unlimited? That's so good.

    Internet @ USYD

.. yeah, how does it work? And before you say 'just google it!' I did just google it but I don't really understand. So you can pay $4.40 per month to have unlimited downloads on dialup speed, right? How fast (slow) actually is dialup? I've never had it so I don't even know. Otherwise...

    Having second thoughts.

If this is your main reasoning, and you enjoy science more than you enjoy the arts, then definitely do science. But I think arts/law is a good combo, if you're looking at what will be most beneficial. only you can decide..

Wollongong - bogan capital of the country?

Not that I am encouraging the continuation of this off-topic-ish conversation, but! Maybe Wollongong will be good for her then. Don't know how long an elitist will remain an elitist at UOW. She needs to go to somewhere in Sydney for ego-stroking ; )

    Having second thoughts.

ARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You get to do the most enjoyable, least employable and least demanding degree, yet have the satisfaction of knowing that YOU DO ACTUALLY HAVE A FUTURE! Disclaimer: I do not actually agree with this stereotype. So seriously: Arts will help with Law in the long run...

Mm, I know USyd does have combined degrees, but not with Visual Arts and Arts. Trust me, they don't. XD It's because Visual Arts at USyd is technically at 'Sydney College of Arts' on another campus, in Rozelle rather than Camperdown, so it would be too difficult to travel to lectures etc.

    Laptops for Uni

Re: Is there any use bringing a laptop to uni? mm, well, last year people started to bring laptops to school to start typing their notes (and I know it's filtered heavily down into the junior years because they all have laptops in class now). Personally I thought it was a bit disrespectful...

How hard is it to financially survive away from home for a full-time student?

Shii, you have to move 200km to qualify for the relocation scholarship? Ahh, I was hoping I could get it because I'm moving 100km... :s Technically I could commute, but it would be 3+ hours of train commuting each day :/ I might call Centrelink tomorrow. Also, the 'start-up' scholarship for...

    Laptops for Uni

Re: Is there any use bringing a laptop to uni? Yeah I was wondering whether to bring mine. I'd rather type out my notes because I'm faster at it than writing. Do many people use laptops for notemaking in lectures?

+1 to Absolutezero. Unnecessary and not an HSC essay convention. Don't worry, I'm sure your wide reading is coming in more use than you realise :-)

    How to survive English HSC

This is a great guide for memorising essays, even though I don't really condone doing it. Repped despite my moral objection haha. Just warning you all though, it is fine to use this method for belonging, because the essay question probably will be very generic to cater to the entire state...
