What is so good about Acst???

Well I dunno about what kind of experience or knowledge of the working environment adiyta has... but I will say what I see: Not all actuarial is consulting. Yes the guys in my office has time demands but you can say that about any job. The guys work late IF they have to to get a job done...

What is so good about Acst???

As I said.. it can be different things. My work is Actuarial - but I do no calculations. It can vary a lot. Hand calcs may not even be needed sometimes because they just use software.

What is so good about Acst???

Back on topic.... I enjoy it and I am doing well at it. I enjoy my work - the people are fun. Actuarials are professionals. They can do a lot in commerce - not strictly Actuarial. You can do Investment Banking, Consulting, Marketing, Software....

What is so good about Acst???

Depends on what you do. Your actuaries do a lot of calcs by hand and crap. Investment bankers need to work v long hours too. Consultants don't need to. We are busy at the moment as well because we are trying to get out the version before the end of the year. I feel slack for leaving early...

Well it is a good idea to do tutorials once and then look through them again... Some courses they just rip out some q's for exams from their tutes (not with ACST though). I don't regret a thing so I don't care. I'm doing well so it works out for me =P PS: Guess you had a lot of free time...

What is so good about Acst???

Asking that is like asking 'What is so good about becoming a doctor' or any other profession. If you have no interest in Actuarial Studies then don't bother - simple as that. Seeing as you asked 'What is so good about Actuarial' then you have no interest in it. If you want to learn more...

You call me a study freak because I do well. I'm not pretending to be a bludge like a certain flyin' says he does =P. I just do the required work consistently and cram like a bitch towards the end like everyone else. You and I both know people who study much much more. Anyways, I don't think...

    what should i do???

You can switch... But all the prereqs and stuff you will need to have done otherwise you'll just be 1st year acct again. Do whatever you are insterested in - if you don't like whatever you are in, then you will just be wasting your time. Accts generally find it easier to get jobs. The market...

Yea.. Actuarial in Australia is in a decline. Thats why you need to work overseas. We should start a new thread for all the working where we can tell eachother what we do etc. Why bother you ask? Because this way flyin' is excluded! LOL =P

I didn't do any humanities or economics or anythign like that in HS either. I did physics, chem, 4unit math and 2unit eng (advanced). I am doing very well in ACST I think. Most of the scholarships go to people over 99 UAI. Many people drop out... many more get left behind to repeat... and...
