    geometry of the earth

just a quick question.. when converting degrees to kilometres..how do u know which method to use, because they both give different answers. ie. do u: -- multiply by 60 to give the nautical miles, than multiply by 1.852 to give km; or -- find it via the arc length formula, putting the degrees...

    catalysts - surface area

hey thx a lot guys, i think i kinda get it now.. so basically the iron catalyst attracts the N2 and H2 and bonds with them...but now that both the H2 and N2 are on the iron, they see each other and are attracted to each other more than they are attracted to iron..so they bond with each other...

    catalysts - surface area

i know in some reactions, catalysts provide a larger area for the thingos to react on (like in the haber process with the magnetite).. but how exactly does this lower the activation energy/speed up reaction?? does it do something to the bonds of the reactants? i just dont understand how...

    oxygen + ozone

Why exactly is ozone more reactive than oxygen? I understand that it's because the coordinate covalent bond in the ozone is less stable, but why? I mean..if you think about it...doesnt ozone basically have a triple bond - a double and a single. Whereas oxygen only has a double bond. So why than...

    weird..

why is it that umarried couples (homo OR hetero) can't adopt a child.. yet single homo OR hetero can.. wouldnt it be in the better interests of the child to be adopted by the 'defacto' couples and hence have a more nuclear-style family and greater financial support?
