What are the most interesting facts you have learned in Modern History?

Too much Germany... my school doesn't do Germany (: Anywhoo -Finding out where that Rage Against The Machine debut photo was from. Also, the concept of a ''buddhist bbq'' really intriqued me. -The realisation that Nehru, politically wise, is more influential than Gandhi

Any words of advice for next year modern HSCers?

I dropped Modern History a couple of months ago. Here is a list of things the high achievers in the subject were doing -Using historian's opinions. -Primary/ secondary sources You need to be able to write very well, in a fluent manner. A pet hate I've noticed from a lot of history teachers...

    Transport - Bus

If I decide to go to UNSW my travel plan would probably be like this: Bus to Town Hall > Walk to Hermes/ David Jones > bus that goes past anzac parade. Still will take me 1.5-2 hours, and that's way too long imo.

    Thoughts on UNSW open day?

Oh I agree. Unsw open day>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Usyd's open day I had a fantastic time, even though I'm not a science/ mathematics person, I became so interested in the engineering/ science projects. It was as if every faculty were so proud of what they have achieved and going to achieve, and...

The University of New South Wales Open Day - Saturday, 1 September

I went to the open day today and I really liked it. Helpful students and staff, I've never even been to UNSW before and about thirty minutes later, I felt comfortable. Didn't mind the wind or the fairy floss queues :) Freebies was actually impressive, got a new COFA USB. I went to the lecture...

    Demotivated, depressed, and despairing.

Oh I know how you feel. I am completely depressed and tired. Plus, I'm on Prozac (started literally the day after trials) and I can't motivate to get any work done, and the worst thing is that I promised some teachers practice essays, yet I sit in front of the computer, I can't concentrate, get...

I want to get into medicine, What should I do?

In terms of graduate med, I have a cousin who is in her second year of med at University Of Notre Dame Australia. She majored in history prior to this. She was in the top 10 of her high school, and if you are thinking of graduate, consider -GAMSAT (above 50 to be competitive) -GPA (aim for...

When do you start hard out studying?

Until you graduate from high school, you honestly won't get as much done as you plan to. There is too much on: you are still learning new things, graduation events, etc. A woman spoke at my school last week and she said aim to do at very least 2 hours of every subject per week until the school...

The University of Sydney Open Day - 25 August

It would be great practice :drink: I have a feeling that if I went to usyd I would be miserable, lonely and paranoid all the time, and eventually turn into Travis Bickle.

The University of Sydney Open Day - 25 August

lol I went to Sydney first, and then notre dame. From the sounds of it, your experience was pretty horrible (: Usyd reeked of arrogance. I got the impression from UTS and Notre Dame that the students and lecturers actually wanted to be there.

The University of Sydney Open Day - 25 August

    1. Mate? lol 2. The only student ambassadors I saw were in those little embarrasing booths. 3. I'm not expecting a holiday vacation. But I do expect to be treated with respect. A good open day for anything, whether it is a private college, a high school or a university has: directions that...
