    Donald Trump

The people being made unemployed in manufacturing are the ones who need to benefit from the creation of those new jobs. There is little point creating new jobs in a sector of the economy where jobs are already available. That is where globalisation has failed, it has left too many people...

    Donald Trump

The problem I have with this mentality is that creating jobs isnt necessarily an achievement. There's no point creating an additional 1000 jobs in finance when you're losing jobs in manufacturing. Also, the jobs created need to provide a living wage to people. The problem with free trade is...

    Donald Trump

Just because they've been made, doesn't mean they will be carried out to completion. When the wall is actually physically standing and replacement Obamacare legislation has been passed, then it will be more than just talk. That isnt talk, but it remains to be foreseen whether it will bring...

    Donald Trump

So what. These things haven't been completed yet and that is the real test. Ill believe it when I see it (this has nothing to do with Trump personally, I just know talk is cheap when it comes to this stuff).

    Donald Trump

You are getting ahead of yourself. He hasnt replaced Obamacare, he hasnt brought back American jobs or built the wall yet. Not saying he wont, but he hasnt yet.

‘Feminised’ physics a formula for failure, says Michelle Simmons

I love how the newspapers recycle the same articles every year. "Sciences dumbed down", "Drug use amongst HSC students", its always the same shit. This argument has been going on for years.

Discussion Thread for Atar Notes & other forums

Re: ATAR Notes vs Bored of Studies Just to reinterate what I said before, we definitely welcome Moderator Applications from our users. Personally (not speaking on behalf of the Mod Team), Id love to see some of our younger users (2016ers, 2017ers) apply. If anyone is interested, feel free to...

Discussion Thread for Atar Notes & other forums

Re: ATAR Notes vs Bored of Studies Back a few years ago, there were a few Mods and users in this category. I remember a time when I was marking essays, answering questions and doing ATAR estimates in high volumes. The fact is though, Im nearly 25 and far removed from the HSC and even uni...

Why are people choosing to pursue a career in medicine?

For what anecdotal evidence is worth, Ive had the same experience to be honest. Ive been to many GPs and never found one Ive liked and in terms of specialists, Ive only ever really liked one or two. Most Doctors Ive seen fall into the asshole category.

    Question on LLB drop outs

It depends, how interested are you in pursuing a law degree? A law degree isn't what it used to be, it isn't as secure and high paying as it was 20-30 years ago. Also, whilst its useful for other areas outside of the legal professional, I think this is overstated. Unless you want to work in...

Want to become a commercial Pilot

I think the major airlines offer cadetships for people wanting to be pilots. You can also go on your own in order to obtain a Commercial Pilot Licence, but it is very expensive and you cant use FEE-Help.

Whats it like being a politician?

I know this is an old post, but I wouldnt say there is any specific degree needed for politics. Law and Political Science are probably the most relevant, but I dont think they are necessary. Im not too sure regarding the specifics of entering politics (i.e. dealing with the AEC etc), but...

    Maths (Stats/data science/analytics) vs Medicine

Blunt but accurate. There are so many better alternatives if those are your motives. I can never understand why people think that a maths related degree has low job prospects - I think it's just a by-product of insular HS/Uni thinking. This is the era of big data and people with mathematics...

    Australia's sliding educational performance

Overall, I think students and society are largely to blame for this issue. A lot of pundits and politicians refuse to admit the underlying cause of these issues simply because there are easier scapegoats. The left blames a lack of funding whilst the right blames teachers. The harsh truth is...

    Australia's sliding educational performance

The release of several reports recently seems to indicate a fall in Australia's overall educational performance. What are your thoughts on this as to the causes? http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-11-30/australia-declines-in-global-education-report/8077474...

    Donald Trump

He was being pragmatic. Ultimately, Clinton had sealed the nomination at that point and endorsing her ensured that he got influence on the democratic platform. As I said before, government might not be working, but people must understand it's limitations. You have to compromise in government...

Guys, just a reminder to keep the conversation civil.

    Donald Trump

I disagree with America's decision, but nonetheless he was fairly elected - I havent denied this fact. I also disagree with these protests and all the whinging and whining over the election, it's a distraction. The discussion now needs to focus on the issues how best to solve them. I think...

    Donald Trump

See, I dont view Trump as being right wing at all. This election wasn't about right vs left, liberal vs conservative. It was about populism vs the establishment. The right wanted Trump to lose almost as much as the left. If you look carefully at Trump's policies, he draws from the right and...

    Donald Trump

So we're supposed to trust someone who has admittedly exploited the same system his whole life? He might have the right message, but he wasn't the right man - Bernie was the right man.
