Post Your 2013 University Offers Here

All medical schools have unbonded and bonded places. Unbonded places are generally set aside for the bottom 25% of applicants. Thankfully, my offer was unbonded. I'm not sure where they send you.. it's an "area of need", but I believe it would be NSW, most likely rural.

Likelihood of transfering from UTS medical science into med/dent.

Definitely get involved / check out medstudentsonline it's the best place to find any advice on anything med/dent related. Also, not a criticism or anything.. but I think you should really think about which one you truly want.. in terms of med OR dent. They're two very different career paths...

btw, out of curiosity - bonded or unbonded?

Likelihood of transfering from UTS medical science into med/dent.

So what's the plan for this year? By the way - would you consider Griffith Dentistry? Comparatively it's rather easy to get into.. I got a main round offer with a 6.875 GPA for 1 full year of study, they don't consider UMAT or Interview, just GPA. Only catch is that the last two years of the...

Would this allow me to get into medicine?

Primary benefit of doing 1 year of an undergraduate degree would be that you are one step closer to postgraduate entry. Instead of having to do a 3yr degree if you took a GAP year, you'd already have completed 1. That's the way I saw it. I would have only taken a GAP year if I knew I had a...

Would this allow me to get into medicine?

All in all, a gap year could significantly increase your knowledge of the medical field, reaffirm your desire to enter it and give you a solid foundational to express yourself and your experiences in the interview. Btw, where and what year of Medicine are you in?

Would this allow me to get into medicine?

Normally I wouldn't recommend taking a GAP year, but it definitely appears as if the OP is keen on it and I can definitely see the value of having one - gaining a better appreciation of the world, travelling, volunteering, working, focusing on UMAT etc. You cannot definitively state that a GAP...

Would this allow me to get into medicine?

I recommend just taking a gap year, repeating UMAT this year and then applying for 2014. If your only entering university for the AAA scholarship... you should be aware that enrolling into the units will add more debt to your HECS then what you would receive as the scholarship. Science is...

Likelihood of transfering from UTS medical science into med/dent.

Well, of course he could retake the UMAT during those 3 years of his BSc and hope to gain entry.. it's just that there would be no "scheme" and as such he would be treated as any other applicant. I think your right in saying that point about UNSW.

Likelihood of transfering from UTS medical science into med/dent.

Whilst he can transfer into Adv Sci at UWS from regular Sci, unfortunately he won't be able to use the lateral transfer scheme UNLESS he is a first year Adv Sci student. e.g. basically repeats.. and i'm not sure if that's allowed.

Likelihood of transfering from UTS medical science into med/dent.

There would be people who have transferred from UTS Med Sci into Medicine/Dentistry, just as there would be people who have successfully transferred from any other degree, e.g. Arts, Sci at any institution. In my opinion, there really isn't any particular benefit of doing UTS Med Sci. The way...

Would this allow me to get into medicine?

I don't think many students on here would be familiar with part time study. In my opinion, you should contact UNSW and ask them if they consider GPA if a student completes 1 year of part time university. I know that normally, if you were to complete 1 full year of university, UNSW would...

Bahelor of Health Science as an alternative pathway into Med/Dent.

Thanks! :) aha nice! honestly.. for all med hopefuls, I truly believe UWS is the best option. If I had been more 'proud' and chosen UNSW Med Sci or anything other than UWS, I wouldn't have a MBBS place right now. Here's the thing regarding Maths: If your doing Med Sci (Adv), Maths1A is...

Bahelor of Health Science as an alternative pathway into Med/Dent.

If you want Med/Dent, I wouldn't recommend health science.. I'd recommend doing either Adv Sci / Med Sci (Adv) @ UWS OR Med Sci @ UNSW. Both of these courses have lateral entry pathways designed for their students.. so your increasing your chances at gaining entry into their undergraduate...
