    Physics Predictions/Thoughts

I don't even know if they are actually part of the syllabus, but yeah we went over them in class, and they are mentioned in excel's sample answers for stuff relating to Hubble's law. So silly how much there is that we don't know if they could assess or not.

    Physics Predictions/Thoughts

Not arrowshaft but for Hertz' experiment I never remember it being in the syllabus, unless I missed the lesson for our class covering it for some reason. I would still mention the fact that he did it as it supplies evidence for Maxwell's predictions of EM waves besides light, as well as...

    Physics Exam 2019 Questions Thread

Yeah it should be fine - Im gonna mention them personally if they ask a question about how you would efficiently move up/down an orbit but I doubt they are required

    Physics Exam 2019 Questions Thread

Trust me, I got 7/9 and completely forgot what kepler's 2nd law was in my trial. You would easily get 9, but definitely don't write a response that long in hsc. I think all you needed for 9 marks was: -Kepler's first law states that objects move in elliptical orbit, while his 2nd law states...

    Physics Predictions/Thoughts

Yes, the projectile answer was stupid, iirc they got their answer by using the initial velocity in a which was completely different lol. The explanation in the centripetal force one was also plain wrong and had no understanding of balancing forces.

    Thanks for the tip

    Physics Predictions/Thoughts

Sorry didn't see your question before, our teacher taught it to us but I'm not actually sure if its a syllabus dotpoint, but may be good to know anyway

    Physics Predictions/Thoughts

For the relativity thing, I'm just mentioning that the observer experiences the lightning strikes at the same time on the platform since they are stationary and equidistant from the strikes, while someone on the train will experience the strike at the front first since they are moving towards...

    Physics Predictions/Thoughts

I would say that they can. Just have the classic wrote learned lightning train experiment for that. Just wondering though, if they asked for one of Einstein's thought experiments on the relativity of time, do you think this same thought experiment would be valid to talk about? Or should I wrote...

    Physics Predictions/Thoughts

Yeah 100%. The funny thing is though the excel papers for chemistry were god awful, I swear half of the content in them was out of syllabus lol.

    Physics Predictions/Thoughts

I don't recall it either. I think I also mentioned that in my answer, because while it didn't really directly prove the speed of light was constant, it definitely was validation for ideas in SR.

    Physics Predictions/Thoughts

That question in the CSSA was pretty bad as well, I mentioned it had something to do with neutrinos when I was answering it, but had never heard of Pauli in my life lol. It had a similar really stupid question that was a 5 marker where you literally just had to mention Einstein's postulate about...

    Physics Predictions/Thoughts

That question was so stupid, really ruined my confidence with long answer questions when I did it. I never remembered learning about Lorentz and Poincare deriving the length contraction and time dilation equations. As for the Maxwell stuff, I think its probably a good idea to mention the fact...

    solenoid question

The south pole is going in first, and you want to use Lenz's Law to reverse that change in flux, so you can imagine a magnet inside the solenoid with south pole facing upwards to oppose the change. Using the fact that the magnetic field goes from the north to south pole, you can use right hand...

    Physics Exam 2019 Questions Thread

I really hate long answer questions in physics, seem more about memorization than actual understanding, but here is one anyway, a 9 marker from my trial: "The Orbits of Satellites such as GPS must be known very precisely. With reference to the total energy of a satellite and Kepler's Laws...

Using MX2 skills in Physics exam?

Oh lol I know physics is extremely maths heavy, I was more referring to chem. I'm almost definitely going to do physics at this point as long as I get solid hsc marks for the subject

Using MX2 skills in Physics exam?

Alright thanks for that. Not gonna lie though, that organic chemistry you were talking about sounds sick, I may do chem anyway despite the lack of as much maths.

Using MX2 skills in Physics exam?

Just out of curiosity is there a lot of calculus/higher maths in chemistry at uni? Im condering doubling in maths and science next year but am wondering if I should do chem as well as physics courses, but was under the impression the maths in it was quite basic.
