Well I didn't do 4unit (I was merely a kick ass 3uniter LOL) but I agree with you. I did a fair bit of 4unit first year of uni, and I thought it was at a good difficulty level for HSC students.

Wouldn't know if it's changed or not, but right now it's basically number-crunching into formulas, and memorisation. I wouldn't mind a theory summary actually, coz the mathematical element of it is second nature lol.

I don't like the economics bit of it, I prefer the maths stuff that I do. On a side note, maths is probably the only assessable thing that I don't hate. I enjoy drawing and stuff like that, but couldn't imagine myself doing art as a degree.

I only use algorithms for the third layer. I've once solved it without any algorithms, but it was VERY hard. On a side note, does anybody know how to do the larger varieties, such as the 4x4x4 and the 5x5x5?

Depends on what you do the rest of the time. Some people don't even bother learning until the night before each exam, and it works for them, so it just depends on whether or not you think you can uphold the workload.
