When do we choose our major/s?

When do 1st Years choose their BCom major/s? I've read that you do it on enrolment, which seems a bit too soon to decide...

    payrate in tutoring centres

Do you need experience for those kinds of jobs? I wouldn't mind doing that...either that, or actually tutoring/teaching :)

    ISM Co-op

Thanks :) I looked in the Faculty Handbook and I think you can only do a disciplinary minor for ISM...no double major. But a double major option is available for both the Accounting and Actuarial Studies Co-ops, though I have no idea why the programs vary in this respect.

    ISM Co-op

Nope, I rejected it in the end. I decided that ISM wasn't really for me.

    Worth applying now?

Yea. I haven't worked before, but I have done work experience so at least I have something up my sleeve. My main concern is that I haven't actually worked in retail before and because I'm already 17 (18 in Feb.) I'm not going to look as favourable as a 15 y.o. who can do the job but who is...

    Worth applying now?

There aren't really many jobs advertised, but I'm thinking more along the lines of just walking into random shops and asking...whether they'd be recruiting so close to Xmas.

    Worth applying now?

Do you think it's worth applying for jobs now, or should I wait until after New Year's?

    Data Entry jobs

Do you need any experience for data entry positions? I'd like to do that sort of thing just fill in time before uni but I don't really know where to look. My typing speed is probably within the vicinity of 50wpm, but I'm not really too sure...it depends on the software I use to record the speed.

    invitation from USYD?

I wonder how many people will take the Scientia scholarship. About 100 people in NSW get 99.90+ and of those, I'm sure a lot will do Med and/or go to USyd.

    invitation from USYD?

I haven't received anything in black and white about the UNSW morning tea. The lady who rang me up about the Scientia scholarship yesterday mentioned it. For USyd, I got that Express Post letter lol.

    UAI without tutors?

I've never had tutoring for anything :) That's not to say that people shouldn't get tutoring. If it helps, then that's good. For me personally, I wanted to push my limits and see what I could do + I had great teachers.

    invitation from USYD?

The UNSW morning tea is on the same day so I'll probably be heading to that one instead. :p

    What UAI did you get?

Actually, not quite: http://www.uac.edu.au/pubs/pdf/2005-Table-A7.pdf http://www.uac.edu.au/pubs/pdf/2005-Table-A8.pdf If you got 99, you'd be placed in the top 854 students.

    law at usyd.....

The cut-offs may change, but USyd Law has remained fairly steady at 99.6. From memory, an MBBS at USyd requires 99.95 but I'm not 100% certain.

    Low scaling subjects

In spite of scaling seeming unfair, and despite the sometimes huge discrepancies betweens UAIs in different years, the system is fair. It was designed to be fair, and in my opinion, it is. Very minor discrepencies cannot be avoided, but generally these are negligible. UAIs were designed to be...

    Actual Meaning of the UAI

Hehe. Thanks :) I was ecstatic this morning :D I think I was probably a fair way off the 100 anyway...looking at the stats, I estimated my scaled aggregate to be around 474, but 482.4 was needed for 100 lol
